@RivianUpdates Fixed cost absorption.

R2 isn’t just about selling more vehicles. It’s about fixing margins. Rivian finished Q4 2025 at roughly -$6K gross margin per vehicle, and higher factory utilization from R2 is what helps close that gap and will very possible make R1 itself finally gross margin positive. Volume is the unlock.

@reactiveoptions @nxthompson Google has such an incredibly profitable business (gross margins of 70%+) thar can afford to make those long term investments. It's a very unique case.

@congressdj I switched both my Rivian and Tesla to Nationwide via the Rivian partnership and saved a bunch of money. All the major insurance companies use real time driving behavior to dictate prices. Tesla offers nothing unique.

Tesla Insurance = Terminated. It was a great first month, decent second, and outrageous third. Let me know when they stop basing a month’s entire premium on < 1 manually driven mile out of > 2500 FSD driven.

@reactiveoptions @nxthompson No, that doesn't happen because the time horizon is too long. PE/VC need financial returns in 5-10 years, which is too short for real scientific advancements.
