The Nine Choirs of Angels: 1. Seraphim - The highest choir, closest to God's throne, they perpetually worship Him by singing "Holy, holy, holy" while contemplating His divine perfection. 2. Cherubim - They contemplate God's wisdom, providence. The Bible notes they guarded the Garden of Eden and the Ark of the Covenant. 3. Thrones - The embodiment of God's justice, authority & righteous judgment. They help manifest cosmic order & God's decrees. 4. Dominions - Functioning as angelic overseers or "managers", directing lower choirs & ensuring the orderly execution of God's will. 5. Virtues - Governors of natural laws, physical forces & miraculous events in the created world. 6. Powers - Warrior-angels of the heavenly host, they protect the cosmic order from chaos and maintain spiritual balance against evil disruptions. 7. Principalities - They oversee/ guide large-scale human groups such as nations, cities, churches, & institutions in accordance with God's plan. 8. Archangels - They serve as chief messengers for the most significant divine announcements & missions, with notable examples including Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. 9. Angels - The lowest choir & closest to humanity, they act as personal messengers, protectors, & guides - including guardian angels assigned to individual people to watch over, pray for, & assist them throughout life.

@Pontifex Amen. May this fragile ceasefire in Lebanon lead to true, lasting peace rooted in justice—not just a pause for rearmament by those who reject dialogue. Prayers for the suffering in Ukraine, the Levant, and all war-torn lands. 🙏

The ceasefire announced in Lebanon, however, offers cause for hope; it represents a glimmer of relief for the Lebanese people and for the Levant. I encourage those who are working toward a diplomatic solution to continue peace talks, so that the cessation of hostilities throughout the Middle East may become permanent.

I am deeply saddened by the recent escalation of attacks against Ukraine, which continue to afflict civilians. I express my solidarity with those who are suffering and assure all the Ukrainian people of my prayers. I renew my appeal for weapons to fall silent and for the path of dialogue to be pursued.

Barbara Flynn Currie was a trailblazer, becoming the first female majority leader in the history of the Illinois House. But as the veteran representative when I was a state senator, she was also a great partner — smart, independent and pragmatic, showing all of us that it was possible to operate with integrity in politics and still be effective. Michelle and I are thinking of her family today, and everyone who benefitted from her extraordinary life of service.
