@TheTimMcGraw and ancient philosopher Seneca have exactly one thing in common: They both like to ponder death. Here's why:

A good relationship is just two people saying, “Hey, life is hard, but I want to do it with you.” That’s it. It’s not a highlight reel. It’s not always romantic dinners or grand gestures. Sometimes it’s folding laundry together and sending each other memes when words feel like too much. Love isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s just choosing each other again and again.

@mhp_guy I’m director of partnerships at Growth Tools, I’ve run 100s of this exact type of cross promo. We run zero ads and have basically no social media. Can’t speak to Carlos’ authenticity - but it *is* possible to have a giant, legit newsletter without ads or big digital footprint

BEWARE OF NEWSLETTER FRAUD! This recently happened to me: - A guy emails me, offering to feature my newsletter (160k subs) to his newsletter list of 230k, if I do the same to his. Seems like a no brainer, right? - I ask for proof of his subscribers and metrics. Silence. I follow up. He sends a screenshot that isn't attached. Then it happens again. No screenshot attached. Finally he sends a screenshot that doesn't show a chart. Just a screenshot # of subs in Beehiiv. Very sus. There's no trace of his newsletter online aside from his landing page. You don't get to 230k subs (the legal way) without having a large digital footprint. Nothing in the Meta ads library, or anywhere else for that matter. Meanwhile he's selling ads for his newsletter through a media kit. Fraud. My guess? He bought or scraped a list from somewhere, validated them to weed out most of the bad ones, uploaded them all the Beehiiv and started sending AI generated slop to them. At best, this is wrong for many reasons. At worst, it's literal fraud. He has since ghosted me. If you ever collaborate with a newsletter, always always always get proof of their subscriber count, open and click through rates. Have them Loom their screen while they login and show you. Lots of shady characters out there.

A consistent observation is that most pure endurance athletes are withered & frail from 65-70 onwards. The pure strength folks do a bit better (unless too big; plenty seem to die early). The 70yo+ athletes that sprint & do gymnastic-type training are clearly winning the (physical) longevity game. Cognitive longevity = a separate matter.

Any time I'm at a conference, like #CraftCommerce by @Kit, I give myself a list of rules or challenges that I need to follow. Here are the 5 rules that I gave myself for Craft + Commerce this year: 1. Connection > Restoration, i.e. hang out over sleep in 2. Own my power & expertise, i.e. don't play small or be intimidated 3. Be the conversation starter, say hi and be a listener 4. Go to a meal with people I (mostly) don't know 5. Be confident in all situations Now, if you have been following my work for a while, that list might surprise you a little bit because, in general, I am a confident and outgoing person. But an event like Craft + Commerce is filled with people that I have looked up to and admired as a creator for over ten years. And it's easy to look at them, even with the success I've had, and think: "They have a way bigger audience than me. They are making a lot more money than me. They must be better than me (at this creator stuff)." These rules take me out of my comfort zone and encourage me to try new things, and also opens up the opportunity for serendipity and new connections. Every year I meet someone at an event who becomes a good friend, someone I work with, or a client/customer (and vice versa)! It's a little easier to do because Craft + Commerce is an amazing event, that for me at this point feels like a family reunion. It's not just because I've been going since it started in 2018. I met many new people who were there for the first time who commented on how welcoming, friendly, and engaging everyone is. If you are a content creator or someone who works with content creators, then I highly recommend attending next year!
