@TakeThatClouds @SamCKx @JohnCleese Actually you can’t easily change your religion if you’re born into Islam but that’s because you may not like being killed and it’s not racist to feel that way! You can certainly join Islam and, indeed, some of its followers can occasionally be quite insistent that you do!

@SamCKx @JohnCleese Islam is not a race, it is a religion. Religion is a choice. Race isn't a choice. You are born into a particular race and can't change it, but you CHOOSE to follow a religion and can easily change it. As a "leftie" I find it baffling how many on the left are confused by this.

Multiple reports Iran is now using cluster munitions against Israel. Reminder that the Government's legal advice says we cannot help defend Israel because they participated in the "initial strikes". Even though Keir Starmer pledged to keep defending Israel a year ago.

@MartinRemains @afneil @justiceToday_ People always come out with this shit as if it’s impossible to cut costs. It is more difficult when we’ve become used to funding every hard luck story under the sun but this is where we that leads. Taxes are at record levels. Costs must go down - absolutely no sacred cows

A country with a Navy which once ruled the seas now effectively doesn’t have a Navy it can deploy at a time of crisis. We have no ships in the Mediterranean and no ships in the Gulf. It is a national scandal. Both Labour and the Tories are culpable.

ITVs coverage is shite, they haven't even spoken about the Arundel first yellow, the key point in the game. It wasn't even a penalty let alone a sin bin, Scotland scored 14 points while he was off. It also means the second yellow becomes a red. #SCOvENG

@Cryptobrobeans @MerrynSW Demand exceeds supply, the price goes up. Want the price to go down? Reduce demand (not while the population is increasing or funding is being made available from new sources) or increase supply i.e. build more. Economics 1.01

@MerrynSW the only thing this would achieve is pushing prices even higher and more unaffordable. If this came in prices would increase, and so the policy would achieve nothing.

This comes round every few years. The answer is no. Because if you use a pension early it isn't a pension any more. It's something different.

@MerrynSW I always thought the swiss approach whereby you can borrow against your pension assets to fund the down payment on your house (which is usually the problem for FTB), to be a good one

Just a quick reminder that the man who "goes to work to support his family" is sacrificing nothing and would still have to work without a family. He'd have more disposable income, sure, but a man who has a family to support has chosen to spend his disposable income on the privilege of having a family. It's an exchange, not a sacrifice, and it's an exchange that heavily favours him because if men had to pay professionals to do the labour their wives are doing, most men couldn't afford it.

@banks_chef @CmPooley1972 Shame you got the simple maths wrong. Gross value of £20 giving rise to VAT of £4 would imply a VAT rate of 25% (of the net price). Important for your credibility to get these things right

@CmPooley1972 The £20 is an expample to showcase the simple maths. I would rather pay my staff more than pay Vat. Energy bills is very hard as you are fighting one of the largest businesses in the world.

VAT in Hospitality! And why we need it changed. We buy our food in zero vat rated and as soon as we sell it within our restaurant VAT is added. So in simple terms when we buy a steak in at £20 (for example) and sell that steak at £20 we only reveive £16 as £4 goes to VAT.

Tax isn’t an opt in when you feel like it for most of us… it’s an annual % of what you earn and it’s as painful for someone on 50k as it is for someone on 50 mill… that’s the point of a percentage… if you don’t invest in your country why should your opinion matter?
Kev@chinch69

@mariellaf1 You need to see how much tax he’s paid in the past then you wouldn’t be spouting rubbish.

You really believe that? Have you not heard of the concept of living off the proceeds of one’s investments? When you die the principal is passed on to whoever it is willed to. That’s not hoarding. It’s making money work for you without spending it all the process. Then you can help set up your descendants once you’re gone. And do in.
