@ricwe123 @MarinaPurkiss She said 'Israel has a right to defend itself' when they were bombing hospitals and killing children. But Iran can't defend itself by blockading a shipping canal.
But then dead Palestinian infants don't hurt our economy.

@_BrianMankin_ @implausibleblog Wow someone's touchy.
I never said brexiteers didn't think, I wax addressing your point that he wasn't an economist or a politician/political any sister, so his view was meaningless.
Now chill dude, don't be so angry all the time, it's not good for you.
English

Anyone can be a thinker. What makes you think Brexiteers don't think? Millions of us weighed the trade-offs on sovereignty, borders, regulation, and democracy, and voted accordingly. Brexit has been plagued by bad faith, bad will, and bad delivery from politicians on all sides. But Europe is hardly thriving: stagnant growth, bloated spending, recurring energy crises, defense vulnerabilities, and regulatory overreach. How much longer can that model last?
English

Cathy Newman, "Trump smashed up the old world order, the UK and EU are wondering what to do about it"
"Keir Starmer offered closer ties with the EU, why not go the whole hog and rejoin the EU, with the majority of the country in favour?"
Sir Michael Morpurgo, "It was the greatest mistake this country has made since the war, I have no doubt about that at all"
"I mean to turn our back on our neighbours in that way, not just in terms of trade but in terms of culture and everything"
"It was a ridiculous decision"
"Somehow we have to understand when we make a mistake, we admit it and make a change"
English

@BrilynHollyhand Why didn't he use his board of peace to solve it? Its almost like the board of peace is a 1 billion a shot scam.
Say it ain't so.
English

🚨This is BY FAR the most IMPORTANT part of President Trump's address to the nation tonight.
He completely exposed Barack Hussein Obama live in front of millions for shipping Iran billions in cash that funded global terror.
"Hussein Obama gave them $1.7 billion in cash, green, green cash! Took it out of banks from Virginia, D.C., and Maryland."
"They LAUGHED at our President and went on with their mission to have a nuclear bomb!"
"His Iran deal would have led to a colossal arsenal of massive nuclear weapons for Iran, and they would have had them years ago, and they would have used them, would have been a different world."
English

@DAGToddBlanche 'Strength and conviction' you say.
The problem is there were no convictions, or even trials for Trump and his fellow band of pesos.
English

Pam Bondi led this Department with strength and conviction and I’m grateful for her leadership and friendship.
Thank you to President Trump for the trust and the opportunity to serve as Acting Attorney General.
We will continue backing the blue, enforcing the law, and doing everything in our power to keep America safe.

@electikk2 @SkyNews Only Israel has 'a right to defend itself'
Anyone Israel attacks has to bend over and take it according to Mrs Balls
English

@SkyNews Silly Yvette seems to have forgotten that Trump and Israel waged a war of aggression on Iran that lead to them defending themselves. The straits were open previously. Is Yvonne just a war criminal anyway, providing arms for the slaughter of tens of thousands of civilians.
English

The UK's foreign secretary has condemned what she says is Iran's recklessness in blockading the Strait of Hormuz.
Yvette Cooper is chairing a meeting of nations who are seeking to re-open the shipping lane.

@_BrianMankin_ @implausibleblog Career politicians and economists/bankers are what got us in this mess.
Saying he is only an author is hugely disrespectful. He is a thinker, and that is what is needed.
English

@implausibleblog Sir Michael Morpurgo has always opposed Brexit. He's an author, a poet and a playwright. He's not an economist or an expert on politics, geo-politics or strategy. So why is Newsnight asking for his opinion on Trump and Brexit? And why should we care what he thinks?
English

@MichaelRosenYes All the Labour Friends of Israel were saying 'Israel has a right to defend itself' when they were bombing hospitals, murdering children, cutting of food, water and power, etc.
But don't give Iran the same right, when it effects our economy.
Huge hypocrisy.
English

This has to be some kind of grim joke. Does Yvette Cooper not know that we've noticed that the Strait was closed as a result of the invasion. When there's a war, people do things like blockages, sieges, and counter-actions. The Strait was open before the war, Yvette.

@ColinSkinner17 @donmcgowan @Victoria_Spratt So no such thing as over regulation in your book …. Clearly a socialist and probably lived off the public sector all your life
English

The normalisation of Reform UK's utter disdain for the public is almost complete.
This article by @Victoria_Spratt is so, unbelievably telling.
Taking the headline away for a second, there is a quote that says:
“Extracting Grenfell from the statistics, actually, people dying in house fires is rare…many, many more people die on the roads driving cars, but we’re not making cars illegal, so why are we stopping houses being built?”
It's like saying — 'if we ignore the Holocaust, Hitler didn't really kill that many people. Why not let the Nazis rebuild.'
That was an unapologetically strong analogy because the comment by Simon Dudley was utterly disgusting. Reform UK use Nazi campaign tactics, so let's be upfront about things.
By minimising one of our country's very worst tragedies, to further Reform UK's bonfire of regulations, he's stepped across a very dark line, but this is nothing new for Farage's henchfolk.
Will it shift the dial, though?
No, of course not. Robert Jenrick will be out later to make up some more cockamamie lies about forcing airlines to give us 12p off our summer holidays … in the future. Sky News will cover it like it's the falling of the Berlin Wall, and we'll all move along like before.
This will be shuffled away into the closet that contains Farage's house purchase in Clacton, the illegal lottery they ran, DOGE, all the racist councillors etc. etc. and we'll all have forgotten about it tomorrow.
Some of us are keeping notes but our legacy media, despite the odd excellent article such as this, are more than happy to roll with the propaganda and allow the scandals to mount in the background.
Are we past the point of no return with Reform UK?

President Trump delivered a powerful speech tonight. He was clear about our objectives in Iran:
• Destroy their weapons factories
• Destroy their navy
• Destroy their air force
• Destroy their chances of ever having a nuclear weapon
The President’s leadership sends a message to the world that the United States will defend its people and its interests, and uphold peace through strength.
