If you missed the @CBSNews segment on brokers today you can find it here cbsnews.com/live/. I'm sharing the whole thing because you need to hear the whole thing. While I consulted on and did the undercover interview a lot goes into these and Michael Kaplan did an awesome job, @GenLogs again played a huge role. At the end of the day we have dangerous highways because we have non existent or very limited barriers to entry. At the end of the day there are consequences of this that we must focus on like Delilah Coleman and her family. Marcus also did great in this segment. This is what we're fighting for. Highway accident mitigation through appropriate barriers to entry, and licensing standards among so many other things. Brokers are a part but they're not the only part.

I've seen it, but I primarily see it with owner-operators leased on, especially in drayage work. One in Norfolk, VA: my company was paying $500 to go 7 miles round-trip. Owner-operators leased to other carriers were getting $75 and were led to believe that it was 50%. Another owner-operator with 4 trucks leased to another carrier, running Volvo trucks, drayage, import/export, loaded both ways, was getting $1200 for a 630-mile round trip, which was supposed to be 50%. The carrier was getting $2400 up and $2400 back, and the O/O didn't know any better. That's the biggest issue with many O/Os who leave the employee driver seat for the O/O lease role driver seat... they don't know what they don't know. In both these cases, they thought this was good money. Number of litigation cases around the country with issues like this

I have been in the AMERICAN Trucking Industry my entire life (47 years). I have never heard of any AMERICAN Trucking Company making fake rate conformations they show to their Owner Operators. Pretty sure this is only a problem with the FOREIGN GANGSTERS allowed to own trucking companies in OUR country. @SecDuffy @fmcsa @BarrsDerek @USDOL we have FOREIGN GANGSTERS stealing wages from Americans that have made the misguided choice to work for them so they can run UNLIMITED LOGBOOKS. Revoke ALL Trucking Authorities issued to Non Citizens!! #superegocarrieroftheyear #bidentruckingactionplan

Translation: “Guys, how do we fight against rate cutting? Do we call the broker? Fight with the carrier? Send them to hell? Send some life hacks”. Sadly this whole act of modifying rate cons and sending the modified version with the wrong rate to the driver is happening more often than it should. I am glad to see there is a program that tells you if it was modified, however I am wondering if it also sometimes miss-classifies for tampering when you just sign and date the RC. There has to be a better way to prevent this crap from happening, and I have a few questions for freight brokers. 1. Can you cc the owner op when sending the RC if the carrier requests it, or is it not allowed? 2. Do you give the agreed upon rate to the owner operator if they call you to double check?

@EOSTrucking There are two Super Ego crashes we work on for litigation that are wrongful death, not from the crash itself, but from road rage, ending with Super Ego drivers shooting the other driver they hit with the truck. Happens more often than people think.

Semi-Truck Driver Charged with Attempted Murder After 8 Crashes in Road Rage Incident A semi-truck driver has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly causing eight crashes during a road rage incident on Interstate 57 in Chicago Tuesday morning, according to Illinois State Police. Authorities say 25-year-old Hassan Moutassim of Jersey City exited his truck after the final crash, pulled a driver from a vehicle, and attempted to strangle them. He was taken into custody at the scene and is being held pending his first court appearance.

Yesterday in Goldsboro, NC, a school bus hit a 7.5-foot bridge carrying Dillard Charter Academy students. 9 kids on board. 6 were transported to the hospital. Driver airlifted. 20.3 million kids ride school buses every day in America. 108 people die in school bus crashes every year. 13,200 get injured. The bus is still the safest option.

Good morning Virginia! Trash company: "Service will be disrupted until the bill is paid." Also the trash company 👉 (Vehicles crash into buildings 100+ times per day in the US. 36,500 per year. About 16k Americans injured and more than 2,500 are killed annually in vehicle/building crashes)
