Out for a spin this eve I stop at an intersection while another guy on road bike rode through, a little too close to van coming from right. Van driver stops to berate, insult me w salty language. Man, the next van driver I can reach is gonna get the verbal abuse he so deserves!

@monsieurballard @president_eu @BobFromAccounts LOLz. Sure, a robustly built family bike with a maximum speed of about 20km/hr is a "death trap". Maybe if you rode it off a cliff?

At least 8 people on bicycles occupy the space for 1 modern car. This is efficiency; this is the future of cities. Build more cycle infrastructure, as not everyone can or wants to drive

@rosemeyer1939 @bikesnobnyc Mini V brakes. My road bike is a last gen carbon rim brake CX bike with amazing 34mm Vittorias pumped to ~3.5 bar. Best road bike I’ve ever had.

@bikesnobnyc How do you run 35mm tyres with those brakes? Because nowadays, that's the crunch...

The road bike brake was perfected 30 years ago. What's that? Did you say something about discs? Sorry, couldn't hear you over the squealing.

@CrankItUpCoogs @the_transit_guy I live in Amsterdam and have a small van. Almost all of my city trips are by bike but driving is also quite easy here.

@the_transit_guy The USA is not the Netherlands. The Netherlands would be utopia for you but not for me. I want to own a car and be able to go anywhere I want anytime I want.

@the_transit_guy This was literally my experience when I tried tried taking Amtrak from NY a few yrs ago. Then the train broke down making a couple hr trip take half a day… in both directions!

I know the discourse sucks, but to have passengers sitting on granite floors for hours instead of proper seating is just completely unacceptable.

Bikes, motor vehicles, boats and planes are all very different modes of transport and all need their own unique infrastructure

@TheNighIsDark @WorkCycles Nationality doesn't play a role. You just need to go there, have the bicycle dismantled a bit and stored in a box. Oh and find someone to drive you to the airport.
