The vibe coding dream: build a SaaS solo, make $10k month, work from anywhere. Reality: launch and then figure out why no one is using it.

@knowRowan The simplicity and the fact it syncs across devices. It’s just super simple, no AI, just folders and notes and that’s it.

A friend asked me what tools I use to manage my projects. He expected apps like Notion, Airtable, Linear, he even mentioned Jira (ew). It’s Apple Notes. It always is. Those links in my bio… all those projects started with me writing stuff down in Apple Notes. Once the project is live, all feature requests, notes, and todos still live in there. No project management tool with a kanban board and 6 integrations. Just folders, todos, checklists, and plain text. It works better than anything else I’ve tried, it costs $0, and it syncs across devices.

@leodev That’s a great idea actually! I never really got into the whole talking/transcription thing tbh but I can see the appeal for sure.

I think the real problem with those platforms is that there is too much to do, I have to set it up and then manage it etc. Something nice would just be me putting in some voice input into an app and it builds it for me. I have something quick to add I just say it and it adds it. Then it can be as simple as apple notes, or super complex as needed for power users. On the other side, you're lucky you use apple notes. Google notes/keep notes is so terrible that it generally makes me never use it again but it's the only option there is for me... (This could be a good project for my first mobile app though)

@williambmclean That’s amazing! Just proves how powerful a simple system can be. Any reason for the switch to Notion?

Been using Apple Notes for everything and am just about to switch away to Notion. I’ve used it to launch my business and make somewhere north of 300 YouTube videos over the course of the last 3 years. I combine it with Reminders and Calendar though, it is a pretty good system!

@joncphillips I use Apple Notes too for personal stuff, but what if you need to bring in a cofounder later? How do you share everything so they can quickly get up to speed?

@homeofficehero9 Yeah that’s a good point, if it fits tour workflow and your style and enabled you to move forward, that’s the tool for you.

@joncphillips Similar I just use Googel Docs and Notion. The best system is the one you actually stick to. Complexity kills consistency every time.

@mark_myerson Yeah true, if you got a thousand notes in there, they stay there. Maybe I build an alternative with export options and an API 🤔

There’s something I’ve been thinking about lately… most conversations in tech are the same 5 topics recycled with different words. Same SaaS advice, same AI takes, same “ship fast” threads, X payouts, MRR screenshots. I’m guilty of someone of this too and I want to get away from that. Lately I find myself gravitating toward the people who talk about other stuff. Actual products, psychology, design systems, architecture, analysis, digital nomading, weird hobbies, art, etc. The interesting founders aren’t the ones with the best MRR. They’re the ones with something going on outside of their laptop.

Most AI demos work great… until you try to run them in production. Long-running tasks time out. Retries break workflows. Queues become a nightmare. That’s exactly the problem Trigger.dev is solving. It’s an open-source platform for building AI agents and workflows in TypeScript, designed to handle the messy reality of production systems like retries, queues, long-running tasks, and scaling. Instead of wiring together fragile scripts, you can build durable AI workflows directly in your codebase. Example concept: You want an AI research agent that: 1. Takes a topic 2. Searches the web 3. Analyzes sources 4. Generates a report 5. Streams results to your UI With Trigger.dev you can orchestrate that as a single task, with retries, logging, and real-time updates built in. What makes it interesting for devs: ↳ TypeScript-first → fully type-safe agent logic ↳ No timeouts → long-running AI jobs actually work ↳ Real-time streaming → pipe LLM responses directly to your frontend ↳ Agent orchestration → prompt chains, routing, parallel tasks ↳ Runs your existing tools → Python scripts, browser automation, FFmpeg, and more In other words: You focus on AI logic. The platform handles infrastructure, scaling, and reliability. If you're building AI products in Node or TypeScript, this is worth checking out: fandf.co/4rmbopJ — Thanks to @triggerdotdev for sponsoring this post.

@joncphillips You know your stuff my friend. Simplicity is the key. No need for a bunch of useless graphs, stats and etc. The only thing you need is to clearly write down everything about the project and the goals you would like to accomplish with the help of it
