@wartranslated Wasn't it British NLAW's and Turkish Baraktars which trashed Russian tanks in the early days?

Trump claims Putin had hundreds of tanks ready to reach Kyiv in three hours via a solid highway, but some general, "probably not around anymore," sent them through muddy fields instead. Record rains hit, the tanks got stuck, and Javelins he'd already supplied finished them off, he says.

The Issa brothers have fucked @asda and this needs to be talked about as a crime against British legacy brands… They sold all the freeholds for the supermarkets in leaseback deals and took huge loans against the remaining revenues, they themselves cashed out their initial investment, so it’s been lucrative for them. The business is practically insolvent now, with HUGE interest payments on debt Enterprise Value ~£4.5–6.5bn Total debt: £3.1bn net / ~£4.9bn gross (FY24) Revenue: £25.9bn (FY25) Interest on debt: ~£393m (FY24; FY25 not yet disclosed) This great video breaks it down further…. youtu.be/dyIq-RfkM2w?is…

Bank of England Governor, Andrew Bailey quoted in Telegraph today - "A decade of Brexit has been bad for the economy!" Really? What about Covid, Ukraine, Gaza, Iran and a massive energy crisis? Surely they must have played more than a spear-carrying role?

No, Brexit hasn't "cost X% of our economy" See below⬇️from pro-EU Economist magazine Since voting Leave, we've outperformed (in red) Germany, but less than France & way behind USA. But average-ish growth for EU is not enough. Need a higher growth mid-Atlantic/Swiss/Aussie model.

"Project Fear predicted a Brexit apocalypse for the City. It never happened" As we approach the tenth anniversary of the vote in 2016, it is important that we don't let the continued despair of those who lost ten years ago, to overshadow the victory. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/06/2…

No benefit? Freedom to trade with the rest of the world? The ability to develop new tech — pharma, AI, nuclear, untrammelled by oppressive EU rules. (But we need a government committed to building on Brexit benefits).

@stephen7502 @MikeJPretzel Poland gets 0.7% of GDP from EU, about 3 months growth at the rate they're growing. A rounding error basically. You expecting us to believe the car crash of the UK economy can be viewed as a success!! There's even mutterings of an IMF bailout being required FFS

That’s great news for Poland. When will they become a net contributor to the EU and not a net receiver? It’s a lot less difficult to improve living standards if somebody else is footing the bill. Net contributors like France, Germany and the UK, were it still in the EU pay for development in counties like Poland. That aside, the UK economy can’t only be compared with other European G7 countries and on that score Brexit appears to have been a success. The UK economy, which is the 5th/6th largest in the world, is just under 4 times the size of the Polish economy.

King's College and the University of Nottingham study says Brexit has reduced UK GDP by 6% to 8% compared to what it would have been, and double that predicted. Investment fell between 12% and 18%. Employment dropped 3% to 4%, and productivity by the same margin. Let’s #RejoinEU

@frombexley @MikeJPretzel Yes, let’s look at the real data and not just a small position that suits your argument. If one wants to look at trade, let’s look at the real data for total trade including goods and services, both EU and global. This is the real data. See the impact of Brexit? Neither can I.

@stephen7502 @MikeJPretzel Poland and Slovakia are on course to overtake UK living standards, UK youth unemployment higher than Italy and UK Govt has to pay more than Greece to borrow money - quite clear something's going wrong

@MikeJPretzel More rubbish-in, rubbish-out modelling?. I wish these people would explain why the UK would have vastly outgrown France and Germany if it was in the stagnant EU under the same regulatory framework. That’s the “sniff test” that all these claims by economic experts are failing.

Arrant nonsense. Since Brexit, the UK economy has done as well as France & Italy, & better than Germany. These spurious “studies” are based on comparisons with the USA, which no EU countries are matching.
