@BioavailableNd What do you think about the disinfecting entry floor mats?
English

Wearing outside shoes inside the house. According to Dr.Gerba, Microbiologist, there's a 96% chance there's fecal matter on your sole and +400k units of bacteria.

What is extremely unhygienic but everyone seems to do it anyway???

Recognized serious COVID-19 vaccine AEs per CDC/FDA: myocarditis/pericarditis (rare, mRNA vaccines like Pfizer/Moderna, highest in young males post-dose 2); anaphylaxis (any, very rare); GBS/TTS (viral vector like J&J, discontinued).
Differ by type: mRNA more cardiac inflammation; vector more clotting/nerve issues.
Boosters: Risks highest after primary series/dose 2; longer intervals may lower myocarditis odds.
Pre-existing: Severe allergies (contraindication); prior myocarditis (precaution for more doses); recent infection often ↑ reactogenicity.
Vs long COVID: Vax effects acute (days-weeks post-dose) vs chronic months post-infection. HCPs distinguish via timing, history, labs/imaging; new ICD codes (T50.B for viral vaccines) aid tracking suspected cases.
English

BREAKING: The CDC is moving to officially recognize COVID-19 vaccine injury with a new ICD10 code.
T50.B25x: Adverse effect of COVID-19 vaccines.
No code existed. No tracking. No accountability.
That changes now.
This is a major win for the injured. Recognition begins. Truth follows.
Public comment period opens soon. Make your voice heard.

@Valistryingg They watch science, engineering, and ballistics shows on YouTube. Who knew watching Mark Rober would be such a gateway to science channels?
English

@HippyMomPhD Great time to work on foreign language and advanced math.

@jaycaspiankang Sandlot style games still exist!
You just have to message all the parents in a group chat to drop off their kids at the ballpark
English

the book I've got coming out soon is about how so much of child raising for the middle classes is built off this model, how this leads to alienation and loss of community (and doesn't produce better athletes, mathematicians, or anything). Stay tuned.

Travel baseball has turned into: Pay tons of money to play. Pay to travel. Pay to stay. Pay to watch your own kid. And somehow… this became normal. Will it ever change or just get worse?

@Bagz_Tech This just happened to a student I know in their biology class - 2 chapters skipped because there wasn’t enough class time.
English

Back in high school, my AP Chem teacher skipped over a unit or two because there "wasn't enough time". A few of us read the chapter in the textbook on our own, but otherwise the class automatically missed that 10% of the exam.
We're building to empower students. Teachers have too much variance, and students deserve better.

@Andrewnsnyder It’s interesting to consider how he might have obtained war elephants in what’s now Spain.

@moultano Check out the math acceleration success stories and philosophy behind MathAcademy.com. They’re the math program used at Alpha School, which is also amazing.
English

When you chose a school for your kids, you probably didn't realize you were choosing educational software, but that choice of software might be more consequential for your kid than the choice of school.

@moultano @obversers Send him your blog post and visualize yourself slow mo walking away from the explosion
English

@obversers Yeah, I'm probably just being cowardly. I found it stressful just to post this on my blog.

@cboyack C works best if the book addresses parents at all ages of parenting
B seems like it’s primarily for people with young children, parents of teens may overlook it as being early parenting focused and not as relevant
Option A - business networking book
Can’t wait to read this
English

Need your help to finalize the cover! A, B, or C?
This book is targeting affluent families who struggle to raise their children in an abundant world; when life is comfortable, how do we help kids maintain a "builder" mindset to be value creators, instead of value consumers?
Though targeting an affluent audience, it's written with an eye towards the broader middle class — who live with more abundance than the wealthiest people did just half a century ago… and with AI, automation, robots, etc., this is going to become an even bigger issue for all of us to grapple with.
Please vote! And you can sign up here to be notified when the book is out later this year: human-capital.kit.com/e53d52848f

@HarveyMultani I’d like to see kids earning college credit for their non-AP college level courses in math and physics.
Partner with ASU - they are regionally accredited and offer grade protection, so a student can attempt a course and later decide if they want to transcript.

English

Marketing idea for Math Academy and PhysicsGraph: bounties to students passing exams using their tools, scaled by age. Example paying $x to a middle schooler if they get 90% percentile in the Math or Physics GRE or $y to an elementary aged who gets a 5 on AP Calculus BC or Physics C. 10-20 case studies would be like breaking the 4 minute mile record and spread virally.
English

@JoshPhillipsPhD Gorgeous! The only thing that gives me pause about vintage book sets is the potential lead exposure from the covers.
English

@thejasonkantor Have you tried the Merlin app for identifying birdsong? It’s fun.
English

@thejasonkantor That may be true of the time she has the students under her instruction, but what may not be mentioned is that her students may spend hours elsewhere visiting specialists for the library, music class, art studio, computer labs, PE, school assemblies - plus recess and lunch.

My best friend's wife is a kindergarten teacher and her students are expected to sit all day for whole lessons as if they were in upper grades
Is this the norm or is her school an outlier?
I thought kindergarten was largely playing, socializing, introductory reading/math, and things of that nature
