This week I had the pleasure of guest lecturing in two different @McMasterU classes! In Carrie McMullin's class for Foundations of Community Engagement, I taught alongside Fayth Frank about mobilizing findings from research projects in impactful ways. We also discussed the process of producing an infographic using an iterative process. In Dr. Sarah Whitwell's class for Gender, Feminism, and Social Jusitce, I taught about trans- and sex worker-inclusive feminism. Incredibly rare genetic abnormalities don't change that human sex/reproduction is a binary system But if we are basing legal pronouns on sex determining Karyotype (XX/XY) alone, technically they are still "female"

You are very obsessed with genitalia as if genotype isn't distinct from phenotype. To the First Image: A prison population is not representative of the census pouplation. If this data is based on prison population figures, then it shouldn’t be interpreted as an “offense rate.” It’s really just a snapshot of how many people are incarcerated at a specific moment. That distinction matters because the prison population is constantly changing - people are entering (new convictions) and exiting (parole or completed sentences). An actual offense rate would measure how many new cases occur over a defined time period, without subtracting those who leave. For instance, if 6,000 individuals commit a sex-related offense in a year and 3,000 incarcerated individuals are released, the offense rate is still 6,000 - not the net increase of 3,000. A sample size of 56 is extremely small, making any per capita extrapolation unreliable. With numbers that low, even a change of a few individuals can significantly skew the results, leading to unstable or misleading conclusions. The category “sex offense” is very broad and includes a wide range of behaviors. It can refer to serious crimes like sexual assault, but it may also include activities such as sex work that are criminalized in certain contexts. These are fundamentally different situations - one involves harm to another person, while the other may not, depending on the circumstances. Given that trans women often face higher levels of economic marginalization and that women are more likely than men to be involved in sex work, disparities in enforcement could help explain differences in prosecution rates within this category.
