Here’s the thing, I understand why Waitrose felt they had to fire Walker Smith. This whole sorry tale illustrates perfectly what a state we’re in as a nation. Dominated by fear of litigation & higher insurance premiums, we have lost any sense of personal responsibility.

Women and black people can claim sex/racial discrimination and the claim is unlimited. The result is white males are more likely to be victimised by employers as it is less risky.

@RabbittLeader @KirstieMAllsopp Incorrect. The cap on unfair dismissal awards was one year’s salary or £123k, whichever is lower. However, that cap is due to be removed from January 2027. There’s also no evidence of racial bias in ET outcomes.
