Don't let Anthropic fool you - it's literally just an LLM with scaled-up pre-training and post-training. As it's an LLM, it is only good at stuff humans have already done; it cannot invent new things. Anthropic themselves consider the catastrophic risks low

This is insane. Open source models will reach the coding level of Mythos within 6 months and will be able to compromise any server that isn’t patched between now and then. We are entering uncharted waters.

Intelligence withdrawal will be brutal. Model tokens are heavily subsidized. Subsidies are disappearing, and with them, so is easy "intelligence". This is the reason for Anthropic and OpenClaw's divorce. This should be a wake-up call for everyone building on top of a single provider. Your AI setup shouldn't depend on someone else's business model.

i'm on vacation with my family. i read about mythos and couldn't relax the rest of the day. i am completely stunned. i already have a severe case of ai psychosis. i dont know what to call this now. i'm up late right now (late for me). i can't stop reading about anthropic's new model that they can't even release publicly because it's so good. this feels different. words like "frightening" and "uneasy" and "scary" are being throw around by the anthropic team. i feel all of those things. i knew this moment was coming. i didn't know it'd be so soon. i'm generally optimistic. i don't feel as optimistic today. i was shell-shocked most of the day. my mind was stuck on it. i kept looking around at people enjoying their vacations with their families and...i just felt weird. like i had been told aliens are real, they're coming, and soon...and no one else knows. it's true though, practically no one knows what's happening in AI right now. where does this go from here? how quickly? is software solved? is all software vulnerable now? am i even asking the right questions? what about anthropic? this is an enormous amount of power for one company, one man (dario), to have. i've said this before but now it's more real than ever: can any company catch up to anthropic? opus likely helped build mythos, mythos will help build the next model after that. recursive self improvement is here. the "intelligence explosion" as leopold aschenbrenner put it, is here. i knew the frontier labs were racing towards ASI. i knew it. but i didn't fully grasp what it meant. the first company to reach it wins. period. full stop. nothing else matters. dario knew that and his bet on coding was right. on the one hand, imaging all science, math, coding, climate problems being solved. imagine cancer being cured. imagine going to the stars. on the other hand - imagine concentration of power, political and economic change happening so fast, society can't adapt. how do we go on like things are the same?

a bit ironic that claude mythos is this giga smart cyber security expert model but they accidentally leaked all of claude code a week ago

You guys realize that Claude Mythos can’t be ethically released to the general public ever, right? That is, we just have to wait until the entire internet has been patched of all critical exploits, and all future code is forever scanned going forward. So no software should be released until it has been scanned by Mythos. But you have to be part of the handful of companies that have access to it. We are in a genie-out-of-the-bottle moment. When there’s a new major 0-day exploit, teams of agents will race to compromise systems while the means to stop them will be dependent on whether you are in the club or not (you are likely not in the club)

You are going to see a lot of hype and scaremongering about AI in the coming weeks. Here's the gist: Anthropic, a financial terrorist organization, has decided to punish anyone who ever open sourced code on the internet. It will be very scary for awhile. The long term effect will simply be the death of open source. And once new systems are built closed off from the prying eyes of the LLM bot scrapers, the models will be useless. The rise of LLMs is not a paradigm shift for the internet, it is the continuation of decades of capitalists exploiting the social desire to share openly with each other. Once that is dead, we will have an even sicker society AND no technological benefit. AI is a scam. It is a cancer. That's all it is.
