@JamieBonkiewicz Money is required to live and survive. You must live and survive to vote. To use your logic, food and shelter is a poll tax. We all need ID to travel , to rent a hotel, buy a house, purchase various products, and so forth. Everyone already has ID, hence, it is not a poll tax.

Requiring people to show ID to vote while also requiring people to pay for an ID is akin to requiring people to pay in order to vote aka a poll tax.
