Almost every cell in your body contains a captive. Not a prisoner in chains, but an ancient, conquered ally. Another cell from another being, kidnapped more than a billion years ago. This tiny invader, an alphaproteobacterium, was swallowed whole by us (the larger host) and never released. Instead of dying, it struck a devil’s bargain: eternal servitude in exchange for survival. Today, we call its descendants mitochondria. You likely remember it from school as "the powerhouse of the cell". These captives still carry their own DNA, a stripped-down circular genome entirely distinct from your own. They live by the millions inside nearly every one of your cells, cranking out the energy currency of life. Sugars and fats flow in; ATP flows out. Through intricate molecular machinery, they burn fuel with oxygen in a controlled inferno, powering every thought, heartbeat, and breath you take. Egg cells contain them, so your mother passed these living relics to you. The DNA of the mitochondria is copied unchanged, except for occasional errors. Since we know the rate at which such errors typically occur, we can infer how closely related any two people are from the differences in their mitochondrial DNA. The sperm’s few mitochondria are usually destroyed upon entry, making mitochondrial inheritance strictly maternal: a whisper of our deep evolutionary history. A few specialized cells, like mature red blood cells, eventually evicted their captives to make room for hemoglobin. But for the vast majority of your 37 trillion cells, the bargain holds. You are not a single organism. You are a federation of ancient captives and their host, a walking empire built on one of evolution’s most successful hostage situations. Without them, complex life as we know it would never have existed.

I don’t want to see this account upload one more post until the UK has sorted out their unconscionable and inhuman gang rape catastrophe.
The Royal Family@RoyalFamily

🏇🎩 The King and Queen have arrived for the first day of Royal Ascot. The day began with the traditional Royal Procession, where members of the Royal Family arrive along the track in horse-drawn landaus. 🌸 @Ascot Racecourse was founded by Queen Anne in 1711, and has since received the support of a further twelve monarchs. The Ascot summer race meeting officially became a Royal week in 1911.

The first image is an archeological site in Peru called Yuraq Rumi. The second image is a section of the 'Yongauni Monument' off the coast of Japan (labelled natural) The third image is the Baltic Sea Anomaly. Are you seeing the pattern?

One cannot help but notice a certain pattern in how these incidents are handled. When a prefabricated structure used as a mosque is set on fire in Hokkaido, a suspect is quickly identified, arrested, and his name and age are promptly made public. Yet when shrines and temples — the very symbols of Japan’s native traditions — are repeatedly targeted across the country, the cases often remain unsolved, with little information released and no arrests announced. If the principle is that any act of arson against a place of worship must be pursued with full vigor, then the same standard should apply regardless of whose religion is involved. The disparity in speed and transparency raises an obvious question: are all places of worship treated equally under the law, or are some considered more worthy of protection than others?

@japan_nobunaga I knew... you should use a translator instead for the text, not only it would be more beautiful, you will turn away less people by showing your personality. AI rips away the unique way your thoughts are forming.

A funny detail: I write everything in Japanese. 🇯🇵 AI translates it because my English isn't very good. 😅 The images are AI-generated too. 🤖 Sometimes ChatGPT. Sometimes Grok. So the entire project is basically a Japanese guy 👨, a confused samurai ⚔️, and several AIs 🤖 trying to understand America 🇺🇸 together. None of us expected this. 😂

I mean 0 impressions... so basically X does not consider my time, at all. Sure go ahead post things, take time to think up of something and feed it, the only thing that will even see it, is our AI that keeps training on you for free without your consent. What a disgrace.

I don’t think this is a one day thing. Seeing all of your photos, stories, memories and messages today has reminded me just how special this community is. Years later and the love for Stargate is still going strong. Thank you for showing up and making your voices heard. It has been such a joy to celebrate with all of you and I have a feeling we’re just getting started. 💙 #SaveStargate

I know you're probably running out of content... but its an open source model so right now you look like the dumbest on X. I actually hate that people do this, because you make us all lose credibility and integrity.
