People out there having a freak out about the new bus policy from Disney Springs shouldn’t be surprised at all. People abuse a system, Disney is going to squash it. And by the way, if you’re a resort guest, you can STILL resort hop. I’m not sure where people are getting the info saying you can’t. And if you aren’t a resort guest, just make an ADR somewhere. It’s not the end of the world. The bus system at Springs is being overrun by people trying to avoid paying to park at a park, or go to a resort they aren’t staying at with no ADRs. I get that it’s frustrating, but many of the more popular resorts are being overrun by people not staying there and it’s frustrating for people paying thousands of dollars to see it packed with people not staying there. It’s become so bad that at the Poly they are enforcing only guests being able to have beach access for the 4th of a July and NYE. But it’s honestly bad on non holiday nights also. People know it’s a good place to have a great free view because they saw an influencer tell them it’s a good hack. Remember back in the mid 2000s when Disney started making you scan a room card or MagicBand for pool access? That was because non resort guests were using pools they weren’t paying to use. People abused that and Disney said no more of that. And at Stormalong Bay they have cast members at every entrance making sure you have a wristband to get into the pool area.

@RavenRanks @BrerOswald Your point is the deluxe resorts are overrun because of non-Disney resort guests. You're in for a big surprise when they are still overrun after this change.

@Spawn_of_Al @BrerOswald People staying at a Disney hotel should be allowed on other Disney hotel properties. It's the people who do not have reservations with a Disney resort that are the issue.

@btrich14x @BrerOswald There is plenty of surface lot parking available. I've never not been able to find a spot even during Christmas week.

Just my very small anecdote, but we go to springs once or twice a trip. We eat dinner, buy souvenirs, listen to the live music and buy a coffee/dessert. The last trip we circled the lime and orange garage for 15-20 min each and couldn’t find an open spot. I think Disney realizes this is a growing problem and it’s taking money out of their pockets both on the transportation side and the opportunity cost side and for that reason I can justify this move by them.

I’m almost more annoyed with the people defending this than I am with Disney

@cynical_disney They can still park at the theme parks and take any of the transportation around to the resort. This is just for them not to take up free parking for Disney Springs. Which should only be for Disney Springs.

Kind of lame ngl. I can understand doing this for the busy seasons but that’s about it. Permanently doing this (and wanting to expand it to other parts of the resort) defeats one of Disney’s selling points: resort hopping

Isn't the next step limiting deluxe resorts to deluxe resort guests only? Imagine how many DVC rooms Disney could build on the value resort footprints.

Most of the bus network at Walt Disney World is now going to be paywalled behind an onsite hotel reservation or upcharge activity. There will be not even be an option for guests without either to pay a fare for said buses.

A stranger in the grocery store parking lot saw me pointing to his big fluffy dogs to the 10 year old. He said I could pet them if I wanted. I had to set an example. I told the boy do as I say, not as I do. I told the boy it's not safe. Then I walked over and pet the dogs.

I love the term “broke locals” like we aren’t paying for annual passes, eating, drinking, shopping and spending money like everyone else.

@Jodicab22 And if they are dropping that much cash, they aren't losing all the time in the park by going to DS first, getting a bus at 9, getting to a resort at 930 and maybe getting in a park by 10.

@Jodicab22 This is what I don't get. Locals without APs would be spending $600-$800 for a family of 4 to attend a park and they "scamming" the system by parking for free at DS. If they are dropping that much for park tickets they aren't the ones using the facilities at a deluxe resort.

Because Europe required their dentists to be actual medical doctors. America doesn't require that so many more seek out that profession.

@wakefieldreport Honestly, I don't really care. I do the right thing so it doesn't affect me. It only affects those who are trying to scam and not pay for parking.

For so long, despite the constant price hikes, Disney never felt completely like a walled garden (esp. to locals). This move seems one step closer to that becoming a reality.
