During the Rosary for peace in the Vatican Gardens, Pope Leo XIV reminded everyone present and praying around the world that all people must do their part to achieve peace. It must start with “small but important things, abstaining from every form of verbal or physical violence in daily life and also on social media.”

@TemporalStrife @BreeSolstad I don't know this lady's story, but describing herself as "the worst" stood out to me. I have seen many who say "Oh, yes, I was a sinner" in a very generic way. Her description of herself, hit me as genuine. I hope it is. For her sake and for God's sake, I hope.

How do you want to go to Heaven when you don't go to confess your sins to a priest???

@VitaetTerra I got chills along my skin reading this - as I do every time I think of the martyrdom of St. Joan of Arc.

I'm not suggesting a third priesthood, I'm suggesting Jesus allowed the priesthood of service to include the Apostles, and therefore making it an apostolic priesthood of service, rather than a tribal priesthood. Jesus isn't subjected to the commandments of God in the same way we are, so He has the power to include whom He wants in the priesthood - and still with the power of the Holy Spirit.

It is not conferred by the hand of man. It is from the indwelling Holy Spirit. There is nothing in the Bible about a third priesthood.

I want to shout this from the rooftops. I have found the only evangelization that leads to conversion is truth, not a watered down version of it.

@saildone615 @UcheMaryOkoli @JesusSaves1500 Right. And Catholic Theology recognizes the distinction of two different priesthoods. There is the one that is holy and royal that all baptized people are members and yet, there is a ministerial priesthood specifically implemented by Jesus as I had indicated previously.

I had returned to the faith during Pope Francis' pontificate and when I did, I found myself appalled at him. What I didn't realize is that I was falling for the false narratives I had heard about him and when I began looking at him with an open mind, I have much more respect for him than I originally had.

I agree, Bill. As someone once told me “Sometimes you mess up.” I understand her criticism and can’t really be angry at it, because I think there is some truth to it. But all we can do is pray and try to do better. (I actually really liked Pope Francis, personally, but I understand he wasn’t perfect.)

To me, this is one of those criticisms of the Church's leadership that crawls right up there with the pedophile priest scandals. I can't, truly and rightfully, be upset with a criticism like this - as a Catholic, this kind of behavior, like the priests that were pedophiles, horrifies me. And as a Catholic, I promise that protestants can't be more horrified by this type of situation than we are. I remember hearing a homily when the scandal involving priests broke out and our parish priest said, that it as an attack by Satan on the Church. He also reminded us that the Church will stand, because the gates of hell were not going to prevail. I think, on some level, for us Catholics, it is a call for us to strengthen our resolve in prayer and maintain fortitude adhering to the things we find sacred - namely life.
