It’s all a very unfortunate and somewhat predictable series of events. And then it’s played in front of you and portrayed as good guys and bad guys - and then you hop on a different team from your neighbors family and friends, and then what? You wind up hating someone because their good guy story is your bad guy story. That man should NOT be dead. Those agents are WILDLY undertrained. They have no business conducting these high exposure operations with no coordination with local law enforcement. But when you are headed to a demonstration, AGAINST law enforcement, leave your fucking gun at home. I don’t care if he has a license or a CCW. I have those things too - know what they told me on issuance? “If you are ever noncompliant with law enforcement while in possession of your legal firearm expect to be shot and possibly killed.” I saw the video, the bad one, where he was clearly helping the woman up when he was sprayed and pulled down by the agent. He then physically panics as they are restraining him. Then they discover his gun. That gun somehow *goes off* Then they all freak out too, thinking his panicked motions are to get his gun. Maybe they were, but probably not. They believe he is going for his gun, that he started shooting, that it’s their lives or his - and then what happens next is….well, awful. The temperature of people with wide reach and loud voices is really problematic. -A WILD amount of illegal individuals came in the country from humanitarian issues that were largely OUR fault -NGOs funded through USAID were created to help move people through our country once they were here -It went ignored and the problem compounded and money/corruption set in as they grew in size -SOME of the people that got through are really fucking bad -obviously this became a huge and valid partisan issue, and as a result you have this rushed push to get as many out as possible - how does that happen? -you hire people that want to get the dangerous illegals out, and keep their country safer. Problem is the amount of high iq individuals that you can find willing to do that is pretty low, so you just hire those willing to do the job -you have to keep them in and wanting it, so you appeal to what they are looking for: the glory of the dangerous and necessary job, above the law, ends will justify the means -they do their job, obviously with quotas and all sorts of the usual incentives -they get calloused and jaded real quick, treat anyone without legal status as “others”, and it just became another us vs them game on a different scale and bloody consequences -run 24/7 press coverage about them being the gestapo or whatever else so now every illegal immigrant capture is happening with a hostile crowd, putting them in honey badger backed into a corner mode -super weird how this is happening exactly when that corruption shit was getting exposed amiright? You guys are BOTH super smart. Your reaches are wide. Chill the fuck out. There are obvious solutions here but they require partisan compromises- which we get further away from when smart people start “othering” each other. You both know damn well what should be done here and instead of calling for that you both just want to win.
