This week’s column from the County Down Spectator and Newtownards Chronicle newspapers. We can’t have an us-and-them approach to terrorists and then pretend it’s a genuine peace process.

@fobakesbadly @uuponline @naomi_long You were not "only reposting the article", you were asking a question. The answer to which is a matter of public record. The only purpose of asking the question, one might think, would be to associate the UUP with this whole unplesant affair.

We need to eliminate these issues and stop using character references. Also, the casual blaming of victims and their families. What is actually wrong with David Campbell? He is a disgrace. I'd be asking him some questions ⁉️ is he still a member of @uuponline @naomi_long @JonBurrowsMLA #EVAWAG A former chair of the Ulster Unionist Party and founding member of the Loyalist Communities Council has said he does not regret providing a convicted child predator with a character reference. David Campbell, who was a senior adviser to David Trimble while he was First Minister of Northern Ireland and was awarded a CBE by the late Queen Elizabeth in 2005, confirmed that he provided former teacher William Lloyd-Lavery with a character reference ahead of his sentencing. He also said the “scale of his offending was not huge” and questioned the actions of some of the victims’ parents in their dealings with the school over their children’s concerns. share.google/nbDBfc0RKh1GoE…

Two soldiers “lost control” in the fatal shootings of five people in Belfast almost 54 years ago, a coroner has said. The British Army soldiers did "not use reasonable force" in the shooting of a Catholic priest, a father-of-six and three teenagers in two areas of west Belfast on July 9 1972. Mr Justice Scoffield said that Father Noel Fitzpatrick, 42, father-of-six Patrick Butler, 38, and teenagers David McCafferty and Margaret Gargan were unarmed and posed no risk when they were shot.

This is Orlaithi and her burnt to a crisp dad, he was also a SF member and PIRA bomber, he blew up a train in Dunmurry murdering someone in the process and frying himself. She won’t condemn that though. Couldn’t redden her neck with a blow torch. #SinnFeinIrelandsShame

Those involved in the attack in Dunmurry last night represent no one and have nothing to offer our society. They need to get off the backs of our communities who deserve to live in peace. Our communities reject these actions and understand they achieve nothing but disruption.

John Swinney last night confirmed to me that the SNP will work with Sinn Fein to break up our country. So why do the pundits insist that the United Kingdom is not at threat?
