I loved flying IFR with extra assurance I am being watched. Communication with towers in Midwest is easy and most of them are friendly to general aviation pilots and trainees. I haven't been to West coast, but East cost were the most disrespectful and at times openly hostile. Deciphering their garbled messages takes time and effort for sure. However I do appreciate their job in busy and chaotic environment.

I finally booked a date for my IFR checkride, I had a lot going on and let my schedule lapse for 6 months. Still my main problem is talking to ATC, but I’m getting better at saying ‘say again’ when I need it rather than asking the guy in the right seat what he heard.

Interesting psychological observation: today we experienced the second largest loss of subscribers in our history. In general, our subscriber numbers steadily grow. Today we lost about 1.2% of subscribers. The largest loss occurred during the record market selloff in April 2025, when over a two day period we lost 9.3% of subscribers. I analyzed both situations with Grok and it could not identify any unusual or controversial activity on our part. It appears that when there is panic in the market, some people begin cancelling subscriptions. In my opinion, and obviously I am biased, that is the wrong reaction. In the darkest hours, an objective adviser can be invaluable in preventing emotional decisions. During the April 2025 selloff, which included two of the worst trading days in stock market history, I told subscribers to load up. Those turned out to be some of the best trades of the entire year. I used 4 different leading AIs to study the likely outcome of the midterms (including non-woke Grok). They all came to the same conclusion. Bottom line: No credible forecaster or market gives Republicans better than a long-shot chance right now. Democrats are the clear favorite today, with the data echoing the strong historical midterm penalty. Depeding on what stocks you invest in this has significant ramifications for you!

Although I think we need a new metric for onboarding energy (I don’t think it tells the whole story) How do we feel about charging 10-80% in 30 min? Do you care, or is this just fine for you? As always, I always want the fastest, but I have a feeling 95% of buyers don’t actually care about charging speeds/times.

@CernBasher @alojoh @OutofSpecDetail I agree that in greater Miami one would have no problem charging. I could even install outlet in my condo. My concern is a longer distance travel up north along with 10 million other people.

@jonweitzmann @alojoh @OutofSpecDetail From my experience living in Florida the gas stations experienced huge lines and ran out of gas, while Tesla’s Superchargers were functioning as normal. If the power is out, the gas pumps don’t work either.
