1/5) Some Quick Final Thoughts on last week’s Nova Scotia Election It’s now been almost a week since the Nova Scotia General Election and after a week of conversations with friends, clients and colleagues - inside and outside of the province - I wanted to capture for posterity some takeaways from that election And it was the kind of election that contains lasting takeaways. Nov 26 was a historic night for @TimHoustonNS and the @nspc who made history with a sweeping majority victory where (at current standings) Houston won approximately 53% of the vote and captured 42 of the 55 seats in the Nova Scotia legislature – more than any other Premier in the history of the province. Lots has been written about the campaign and the result since Tuesday’s vote. There has already been a lot of analysis – some of it good, some of it not-so-good – about this election from people on the outside looking in. I’ll try not rehash the main points here. Instead, I’m a little more interested in the big picture. Are there lessons that folks in all parties and from other parts of Canada can take from Houston’s victory? I should also disclose out front that I’m not exactly an impartial observer. For the second election in a row, I had the privilege of joining an incredibly talented and dedicated team of dedicated professionals and volunteers who put their lives on hold to be part of Premier Houston’s campaign team. I, along with many others, worked hard for this result and I am, of course, happy about it. So take that disclaimer for what it is – and let’s dive in:
