Finance Minister John Lohr presented the Nova Scotia PC government’s 5th provincial budget today: Defending Nova Scotia. While last year’s budget centred on new affordability measures that formed the basis of Premier Tim Houston’s 2024 re-election platform, this year introduces a range of spending restraint measures. I am proud to have worked on the central campaign of Newfoundland and Labrador Premier @TonyWakehamNL . He is the right leader for our province at this point in our history. The first days of working in a new government can be both exhilarating and challenging. In 2018, my @entire colleague @MitchWDavidson and I had front row seats to the first days of a new Ontario Government as senior staff to Premier @fordnation . We’ve just shared lessons that we learned from that experience in the @StJohnsTelegram saltwire.com/newfoundland-l…

Newfoundlanders and Labradorians elected a Progressive Conservative government for the first time in over a decade! Our Atlantic team shares how the province’s political landscape has shifted, and how Tony Wakeham’s tories seized the opportunity. 👇 bit.ly/4nXNFLC

Following a difficult summer of wildfires, Premier John Hogan is sending Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to the polls on October 14th. Will the Liberals form government for the 4th time, or can Tony Wakeham’s PCs break the streak? Our analysis ➡️ bit.ly/4gyZcxV

A must-read from @davidptarrant on the (inter)national significance of Nova Scotia's election outcome and the surge of support for incumbent @TimHoustonNS and the @nspc. #nspoli #cdnpoli

1/5) Some Quick Final Thoughts on last week’s Nova Scotia Election   It’s now been almost a week since the Nova Scotia General Election and after a week of conversations with friends, clients and colleagues - inside and outside of the province - I wanted to capture for posterity some takeaways from that election And it was the kind of election that contains lasting takeaways. Nov 26 was a historic night for @TimHoustonNS and the @nspc who made history with a sweeping majority victory where (at current standings) Houston won approximately 53% of the vote and captured 42 of the 55 seats in the Nova Scotia legislature – more than any other Premier in the history of the province.   Lots has been written about the campaign and the result since Tuesday’s vote.  There has already been a lot of analysis – some of it good, some of it not-so-good – about this election from people on the outside looking in.    I’ll try not rehash the main points here.  Instead, I’m a little more interested in the big picture.   Are there lessons that folks in all parties and from other parts of Canada can take from Houston’s victory?    I should also disclose out front that I’m not exactly an impartial observer. For the second election in a row, I had the privilege of joining an incredibly talented and dedicated team of dedicated professionals and volunteers who put their lives on hold to be part of Premier Houston’s campaign team.  I, along with many others, worked hard for this result and I am, of course, happy about it.   So take that disclaimer for what it is – and let’s dive in:
