@dipunair @khushsundar @ptrmadurai The major reason for PTRs educational qualifications could also be due to entitlement. We don’t know if Khushboo came up from the ranks or was similarly entitled. Conversely would PTR have acquired the education if he were from the cattle class? Comparing apples with oranges.

Educational qualifications - @khushsundar - 9th failed @ptrmadurai - Engineering degree from NIT Trichy, a master's degree (implied SUNY), and an MBA in Finance from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Khushbu is literally the Smriti Irani lite version of BJP from south!🤡

@sardesairajdeep My take. @sardesairajdeep should seriously consider quitting as a media person and join politics, which he is (c)overtly doing anyway, before giving his lousy sermons on what the ruling party should do. He can be more silly with full of bluster and noise then.

My take: if the Modi govt is serious about women’s reservation ahead of 2029 GE , simple solution: just amend Article 334 A and go back to the 2010 bill formula that provided one third seats for women from existing 543 seats. Doesn’t need a link with census or delimitation. Can be done tomorrow morning!!🙏
IndiaToday@IndiaToday

Rajdeep's Take on Women's Reservation Bill & Delimitation Debate If the Modi government is truly serious about women’s empowerment and women’s reservation, why not simply stick to the original 2010 bill — a legislation that was already passed in the Rajya Sabha? There are 543 seats; go ahead and reserve one‑third of them for women- @sardesairajdeep #NewsToday

Yes to Women’s Reservation, but within a Parliament of 543 members. No to a house of 850 after delimitation & gerrymandering.

@KartiPC To claim that increasing MPs is "ineffective" is to argue that a single person can effectively represent 25 lakhs people. Historically, no healthy democracy has ever successfully functioned with such a massive ratio.

An 850-member Parliament will be even more ineffective than the current 543-member House. MPs are legislators, not administrative executives. Simply adding more of them does not—and cannot—improve constituency administration, because MPs are not the administrative heads of their constituencies.

@sumanthraman What do you think is the problem? Emotional responses do not take one very far. The per capita MP is the highest in the country and we are not able to fix accountability from them. Lesser per capita would help there. Ideally we need an MP for every 10 Lakh citizens

Quite apart from the unjust manner in which delimitation is planned, the thought of another 300 freeloaders living off the taxpayer is quite disgusting. Does anyone seriously believe India's problems are because we have too few MPs? #Delimitation

@sanjayuvacha Fallacy of ad hominem, a logical error where one attacks his opponent’s character, motive, or attributes rather than addressing the substance of their argument. After all if something goes wrong the Courts can easily intervene unless this writer is casting aspersions on them too.

Absolute bunkum. The constitutional amendments proposed do not reference the 2011 census, but ANY census that Parliament may decide. Nothing prevents this Parliament from using the 2027 census which will be available before the 2029 elections. Every question of delimitation will be left to a delimitation commission without constitutional protection or guidance. It will be headed by a retired Supreme Court judge who may be trusted to remain as fair in the commission as in the previous avatar in court. Without a full road map, jumping into constitutional amendments that would distort power within the federation, disproportionately empower the populous states at the expense of the disciplined states, will be casting an unfair and iniquitous burden on the latter. An imperfect union can survive but an unjust union won't.
katibettu Sudhindra/ ಕಾಟಿಬೆಟ್ಟು ಸುಧೀಂದ್ರ@skatibettu

There’s massive confusion on Delimitation , mostly manufactured, partly misunderstood. Let’s set the facts straight 👇 GOI has NOT said seats will be redistributed purely on population basis. The reference is 2011 Census, but that does NOT automatically mean “North gains, South loses.” The idea being discussed = increase total seats (~50%), not aggressively cut or shift existing ones. 👉 In simple terms: Expand the pie, don’t reshuffle it brutally. So why the panic? Because people are mixing 3 different things: Census data 📊 Population-based allocation ⚖️ Seat expansion ➕ These are NOT the same. Also remember,Delimitation has been frozen for decades to ensure states controlling population are not punished. Now suddenly every discussion is being spun as: “South will lose power” That’s not what has been officially stated. Reality check: ✔ No final formula notified ✔ No official redistribution model released ✔ Only broad direction discussed But social media is already running full political narratives. Bottom line: Until a clear framework is out, everything else is speculation, fear mongering, or agenda driven noise. Let policy come first. Debate later.

Narendra Modi is 2 years older than Stalin. But look at the vibrancy in Modi's movements which is completely absent in that of Stalin. Also Stalin does not interact with common people. The max he does is wave intermittently when he is surrounded by guards.

A roadshow after the roadshow! Making today’s Nagercoil visit even more special was a roadshow after the planned route of the original roadshow. This indicates the strong popularity in favour of the NDA.

AIADMK’s biggest strength is its allies. Their votes are Vijay‑proof. PMK is around 4%, AMMK 2%, and BJP 4%, giving the alliance roughly 10% in its kitty. The lowest ever vote share AIADMK has managed was 19% in the 2019 parliamentary elections, so the bare minimum that AIADMK+ starts with is 29%. In Assembly polls, the lowest vote share AIADMK recorded was 31.4% in the 2001 elections. Assuming it dips to 25% due to TVK, the AIADMK combine could be at 35% currently. If it captures some share of the anti‑incumbency, the AIADMK alliance could end up between 35% and 40%.

I want to restrict myself to the separation of powers segment in @ptrmadurai's post. He is constitutionally correct that civic functions belong to local bodies. But constitutional text and #TamilNadu's ground reality are two different things entirely. A thread on what the 74th Amendment actually promised & what was delivered. 1/11
Dr P Thiaga Rajan (PTR)@ptrmadurai

Stop playing the victim card. A few questions: 1) Is maintaining roads the responsibility of the State Government or the Local Body (Madurai Corporation)? I'll make it easy for you, it is the Local Body (Madurai Corporation). 2) When Federalism is a core principle of our party, how can be be two-faced, like many of you "freelance journalists". Just as we condemn the Union interfering in our State Govt, State MLA's & Ministers should NOT interfere in the Local Bosy, unless in exceptional situations. So why am I asked to take responsibility for the performance, or lack thereof, of the Madurai Corporation? 3) Leaving that aside, is P. T. Rajan road - whose condition you bemoan - even in my Constituency? I'll make it easy for you - it is not. So why do you use it's condition to condemn my capabilites or performance? 4) So....you condemn my performance as an MLA or Minister, based on a road not in my Constituency, and whose maintenance is related to the Madurai Corporation, not my role at all. 5) Were you, and are you still not, following the template of wild accusations of the unwitting Candidate in my Constituency, who has no idea of the Constitutional separation of roles and responsibilities? (Those seeing this post, please check this person's timeline). 6) Do you know that steps I took as FM (6th State Finance Commission related, among others) have helped Madurai Corporation (indeed all local bodies) double Annual Revenues? Does that it make it more likely that they can improve infrastructure like roads, or not? Of course the answer is yes. Why did you not give me any credit for it? 7) Would it not be an abuse of power to direct the Madurai Corporation to prioritize a road named after my grandfather? 8) Are you in regular contact with the infamous press broker Parthiban Kumar, who is engaged in the aforementioned candidate's media management campaign? Anyway, it is not worth having any further conversation with you...let's go our separate ways...
