@stevesi Here's a thought for Metro: just run an extra bus on that route. That's the basic logic behind light rail 1 & 2 lines. Or ya could restrict right turns or pedestrian crossings on the Denny corridor so cars turning right don't have to wait for foot traffic which slows throughput.

Reminder bus utilization has been flat in absolute terms for more than a decade and while it shows gains since pandemic it isn’t at pre levels. While population has grown. This will absolutely be a nightmare at cut the city in two. It will kill plenty of businesses too just as the third ave bus change did.
KOMO News@komonews

Big changes are coming to one of Seattle’s busiest streets: the city is planning to remove one of the driving lanes and transform it into a bus-only lane. KOMO News Reporter Stella Sun is looking into how the lane changes could impact commuters across the city. #komo #komo4 #komonews #komo4news #seattle #washington

@PeakSeattle The math (per CHS reporting): $1.1 million for 32 tiny houses=$34,375 per unit. The planned 120 bed "permanent housing" facility at $65 million=$541,666 per unit. Will more than 1 person be living per unit in the 120-unit facility?????? Again, $541,666 per unit in Seattle.

Check the comments at the end of this article in the Capitol Hill blog. It's about a new homeless tiny house village going into the heart of their neighborhood, which will be operated by LIHI. I have to say, I got a certain satisfaction out of reading the comments. Capitol Hill, more than probably any other neighborhood, voted overwhelmingly for Katie Wilson. And of course it was the stronghold of Kshama Sawant. But now some of the residents are complaining that they're getting a new (but temporary) tiny house village. To be fair we all know that Capitol Hill has a hugely disproportionate share of vagrants and overall crazy people, drug addicted or otherwise. But guys, this is what you voted for, isn't it? Additionally, these same people who gaslight the rest of us and insist the homeless aren't a problem or a burden turn around and say other neighborhoods (AKA wealthy neighborhoods like Laurelhurst and Magnolia need to shoulder their "fair share" of the problem and burden. Mind you, that has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not it makes any sense to stick them in those neighborhoods. Nope, it's just about punishing "the rich." Cry harder, lefties. Your tears are delicious. tinyurl.com/3u39ujke

This week, I endorsed Oregon Republican Representative Ed Diehl to replace democrat Tina Kotek as Governor. ijpr.org/politics-gover… Last night, the four leading republicans appeared in a debate. I’m still glad I chose Diehl. All the candidates for Oregon Governor have come on my talk show to talk about issues. I think Christine Drazan and Chris Dudley are good people, but they had their shots to lead, and they fell short. Representative Diehl pulled off something few have done…win hundreds of thousands of signatures to immediately refer Tina Kotek’s 4 billion dollar tax hike to voters. Democrats then spit on democracy by ripping the vote out of November and dumping it in the low-turnout May election. Notice Democrats aren’t even campaigning IN FAVOR of the tax they worked so hard to pass in September? Governor Kotek ain’t out there either. And notice the labor unions that usually support any old candidate with a D by her name have abandoned Kotek. The real race happens one month and two days from today when voters make the only choice allowed to them…choose a republican to replace Tina Kotek’s failed leadership. His name is Ed Diehl.

BREAKING: DHS releases the names & backgrounds of the three illegal aliens they say attacked an ICE agent in Minneapolis last night, leading to a shooting. All are Venezuelan illegal aliens who were caught & released at the border by the Biden administration. Per DHS: Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis, a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela, previously convicted for driving without a license and arrested for two counts of giving a false name to a peace officer, was the subject of a targeted enforcement operation. He was released by Minnesota authorities before ICE could even lodge a detainer. Sosa-Celis illegally entered the United States in August 2022 under the Biden administration. Alfredo Alejandro Ajorna, an illegal alien from Venezuela, illegally entered the United States in May 2023 under the Biden administration. After he failed to show up for his immigration hearing, he was issued a final order of removal by an Immigration Judge. Gabriel Alejandro Hernandez-Ledezma, a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela, who illegally entered the United States in May 2023 under the Biden administration. The Biden administration marked this illegal alien as a non-enforcement priority.

This point is inescapable. The government pardoned a foreign leader in December for trafficking cocaine, and then arrested a foreign leader in January for…trafficking cocaine. At a minimum, how does that not undermine confidence in the rule of law?

Sen. Rand Paul: "The president of Honduras was given a 40-year sentence, was tried, was found guilty. He was given 40 years in a U.S. jail. And he's let go [by Trump] at the same time we're arresting Maduro because he's attacking the United States with drugs?"

@RepJayapal Now you're criticizing the cost of groceries? Ya may wanna stay in your lane on this one since you've done nothing to oppose the constant cost of living increases in Seattle due to local and state politics. And spoiler alert: based on avg US prices for the above, its accurate.

The Trump administration wants you to know that according to their 1,000+ simulations, you can get a full meal of a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, a corn tortilla, and one ~other thing~ for only $3! What a slap in the face to struggling working families.

Democrats want to make it illegal for law enforcement/immigration officers to wear masks on duty, still silent about potential criminals wearing masks while busting into people's businesses or homes. They're probably still work shopping their response on that issue.

Patty’s story is horrifying, infuriating, and sadly unsurprising. These horrific abuses of Minnesotans need to come to an end — ICE needs to get out of Minnesota.

@mattmfm There's a big difference between public opinion and what the law prescribes. What % in the above poll have even a fundamental understanding of the law let alone qualified immunity.

A wave of new polls all say the same thing: only 1 in 3 Americans think the ICE officer was justified in killing Renee Good. Quinnipiac: 28% YouGov: 35% Data for Progress: 36% Republicans who spent the week defending this atrocity are wildly out of step with the country.

Anyone who says ICE and the CBP are making Minneapolis safer & more secure is misleading. Everything they're doing seems calculated to raise tension and invite confrontation. They are purveyors of chaos Same cast, same play as in Chicago. nytimes.com/2026/01/13/us/… via @NYTimes

What's happening in our country and our state with ICE is horrific, unjust, and it needs to stop — now. I support a bill to prohibit law enforcement from wearing masks and to require identifying information. Let’s get that to my desk immediately so I can sign it into law.

Q: how long until we see the video of what Renee Good's partner Becca was recording? Will it get subpoenaed? You'd think if the video exonerates them prior to the fatal shooting, it would be released. So why isn't that video being released? kstp.com/kstp-news/top-…
