Aave has always been the best place to post collateral, but Morpho has become the best place to lend capital. The Kelp fiasco formalizes this reality. Morpho lenders get tighter spreads, more granular risk control, and market-clearing interest rates.

Charging fees just to burn tokens is usually a bad trade against reinvesting in growth. Buybacks and burns essentially say: "we've fulfilled our mission, we're done, we don't know what else to do with the capital, so we're distributing excess profits to token holders." That's a sign the mission isn't ambitious enough. DeFi is about rebuilding the financial system. The TAM is the entire money supply. Any capital not deployed toward that goal is wasted.
Guy Wuollet@guywuolletjr

1/ Buy-and-burn is becoming the default ‘capital return’ strategy in crypto. I think this is a big mistake. Stop it. Get some help. Profitable protocols shouldn’t shrink their balance sheets when they can do productive things instead.

It's great to see Aave basically recover within a week. However let me use this opportunity to shine light on another million dollar exploit, that happened over a month ago, with no resolution in sight: RESOLV Resolv's stablecoin USR is currently trading at 15 cents and no efforts have been made to repeg the stablecoin or to make retail whole in any other way. The only thing the resolv team has done, is they went ahead and allowed USR redemptions for multi million-dollar funds first. This means the big guys were allowed to sell, while your average holder is sitting on a -85% loss on a stablecoin. This is not just morally wrong, it is an unequal treatment of holders, which is prohibited under probably any law and especially under US law. We should start sueing them. Can Defi be united here as well?

Ethereum isn't responsible for how builders use it. Eth's expressiveness is both its curse and its miracle For sure Solidity, EVM, and tooling could be largely improved/made more secure. But over the years, the community of builders improves and limits the downside while the upside/value compounds

"Finance is like essentially 50,000 different banks and credit unions that all have segregated infrastructure.” @Morpho cofounder @PaulFrambot on why crypto can reshape lending: “Ethereum is like one single database for the entire world, like one single computer for the entire world.” “Instead of going to a specific bank, you’re gonna come to the open blockchain … and then you’re gonna have the entire world quote you on your interest rate.”

ok we seriously have a big problem in defi rn The risk for the yield you get does not fucking make sense. You have the risk of loose everything. And for what? An extra 40 bps or something. Does not make any sense. No circuit breakers, no protections, nothing. Which would be acceptable if you get more yield. But you don't. Why would I put my money in Morpho or Aave when I can just put it into t-bills. Dao drama, north korea and hacks everywhere... We need to grow up or accept that on-chain lending is for people that cannot off-ramp for different reasons. (You know the reason lol) The solution? I don't know tbh. I wish I knew. Circuit breakers on the corpo chains would make a ton of sense imo. But yeah tradfi will eat defi if we don't fix things. Would love to open up a discussion here. Something I don't see? Potential solutions? I love defi. I was building in defi for 4 years. But I'm seriously considering moving everything to my bank account. Which is crazy to think about.

As a Vietnamese, I can say this perspective is closer to reality than many outsiders think. In Vietnam, especially in cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, life today is clean, safe, and full of energy. The country is growing fast, and you can feel the momentum everywhere. People often underestimate how affordable daily life is you can still enjoy a bowl of Phở for around $2. We’re not “pure communist” in the traditional sense anymore. Vietnam has evolved into a hybrid model combining stability with market-driven growth and that’s what’s driving this progress. So no, it’s not perfect. But it’s also far from the negative image many people still have.

I’m in Vietnam a “communist” country and they are clearly on an upward swing It’s clean safe beautiful, zero homeless, free healthcare and little crime Their GDP is growing 4 times faster than in America Now I'm not a communist but this isn’t the horror we were told

Update on the Resolv situation. Earlier today, a security incident involving Resolv impacted USR and related assets such as RPL, and the lending markets that used them as collateral. Out of the ~500 Morpho Vaults with >$10k in deposits, there are ~15 vaults with non-negligible exposure (>$10k) to impacted markets. We advise following @ResolvLabs and the relevant curators communications for updates on those specific vaults. While affected vaults were specifically designed for higher-risk strategies with longer-tail collateral assets, every other vault without exposure, including lower-risk “prime vaults”, remained completely unaffected. These events showcases how Morpho's isolation work in practice. Curators have responded quickly to a challenging situation with the Morpho team assisting where needed, with tools such as a curator app, reallocation bots, and documentation on how to handle known edge cases, to help minimize impact on vaults and their depositors. That said, we will continue working with curators to further improve the tools available to help them through future events. Also worth mentioning curators such @Re7Labs, @SteakhouseFi, @kpk_io, and many others supporting one another during the events of today, even if some of them did not have exposure.
