MIKA: Given your sexting, can you call for the release of the Epstein files and not be conflicted in any way? PLATNER: Yes, of course. I engaged in consensual romantic activities with adults at an earlier part of my life. That seems like a fairly normal thing most people do. Going to an island with billionaires to possibly assault children is a vastly, vastly different thing.

@smallgovlizard @SaraForTexLege Illinois has had multiple Republican governors. Republican governors were in office from 1977-2003 and from 2015-2019. Maybe you should educate yourself before spouting off.

The sins of our past are coming home to roost. 30 years of one party rule means 10 years of playing nice and 20 of squeezing every cent of dirty money that could be had from our state - and the citizens who live here. Schools are closing. Roads are crumbling. Water is drying up rapidly. Power has been centralized in one city under one man. And a lot of people you’ve never heard of have made MILLIONS. While Greg Abbott brags about how Texas is the best state for business, 1 in 5 Texans are a diagnosis away from bankruptcy. 1 in 4 children in this state don’t know where their next meal is coming from and Greg Abbott has personally orchestrated the defunding of public education to appease out of state donors who want to profit off of our children. When he says that Texas is the best state for business, what he means is that his reign of corruption has been the best thing ever for his bank account. End. It. Now. @GinaHinojosaTX for Governor @VikkiGoodwinTX for Lt. Governor @SarahEckhardtTX for Comptroller @Jon_RosenthalTX for Railroad Commissioner @ClaytonTuckerTX for Agriculture Commissioner.

@CollegeHoopsTIk McCollum didn't win shit. His team shot lights out and still only had a 4 point lead. You're an average fan desperately trying to gain followers with terrible takes. Just own that.

Ben McCollum handily won the first half against Brad Underwood, despite the talent deficit. What’s noticeable in the first half is how timid Illinois’ freshman looked, leaving tons of points on the table. If Iowa comes out in 2H the same as 1H, they’re Final Four bound.

Help me out with "I've never understood this thinking." I drove 5.5 hours round trip from St. Louis for more than 100 mostly meaningless basketball games in the 2010s & you don't "understand" why I'm celebrating having the most Big Ten wins this decade? What's hard to understand? In that long tweet I was very specific about referencing fan emotions as the calendar turns to March. We can talk about the end of March if you want (once we reach a decade) but help me understand what you don't understand.
Chris Ellis@cbrandonellis

@ALionEye I guess I've never understood this thinking. Because we had a bad coach in the 2010s we should settle for making the Elite 8 once a decade? We either have big goals or not. In football, given history, I'm fine with 8 wins and a bowl. In basketball not satisfied with good enough

@imPULSEivity @Jumsy81 @EvanMiya Illinois won't play in Chicago but they will likely be in St. Louis in the first two rounds. Those two weekend locations aren't tied together.

@Jumsy81 @EvanMiya That likely won’t be possible no matter what because Michigan will take the 1 seed in that region and teams 2-3-4 in a conference have to be seeded in separate regions

Interesting scenario: 7-seed St. Louis would be allowed to play in St. Louis in the first weekend because they aren't the host school and haven't played 3 games in that site's arena. So hypothetically, the 2 seed in that region would have to play SLU in the 2nd round there.

@CollegeHoopsTIk @jordanrulesTSP @jeffborzello A win from 3 months ago should not hold that much weight. UConn hasn't beaten a top 25 KP team since December 9th and just dropped a borderline Q3 game at home. The entire resume matters.

@jordanrulesTSP @jeffborzello They have wins over a healthy BYU, an unhealthy Kansas, Florida, and Illinois. The resumes are close enough that the 13-point win, which frankly wasn’t even that close, over Illinois should be the determinant

I think as long as there is mail in voting being tabulated and allowed to come in days after election days you will always have people questioning the integrity of the outcomes. There is no reason not to say at minimum mail in votes need to arrive by a few days before election day.

Hi Speaker @MikeJohnson! If you tell me which 3, I'm happy to explain how ballot reporting works in that state and how it can sometimes lead to a red mirage. In Arizona, we have the opposite (blue mirage). For example, in the November 2020 election, Democrats were winning big in all the state and countywide elections. That's because in Arizona, we pre-process and pre-tabulate all mail ballots that are returned before Election Day. Those ballots came disproportionately from Democrats. That meant that the first results released at 8:00 PM were wayyyyy bluer than the final results. When Election Day in-person votes, and Election Day dropoff votes, are aggregated into the county later in the evening and over the next 48 hours, the races got redder and redder. I was a Republican candidate in Maricopa County in November 2020. I was down 90,000 votes to the Democratic candidate with the first results. I eventually came back and won. My Democratic opponent understood how it worked, did not cry foul, and conceded the race. Again, here to help! Let me know which 3.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Mike Johnson on Trump calling for Rs to "nationalize" elections: "We had 3 Republican candidates who were ahead on election day in last cycle, and every time a new tranche of ballots came in they just magically whittled away until their leads were lost. It looks on its face to be fraudulent. Can I prove that? No."

It is absolutely ridiculous this kind of demonstration even has to happen. If any country and/or governing territory says "no" to joining ANY other country, it should be the end of the story. And even implying use-of-force crosses the line.

America never had free speech. It had selective speech. You could say fuck the government, as long as it wasn’t your government. You could protest, as long as it didn’t make anyone uncomfortable. You could speak truth, unless it hit someone’s wallet or ego. Putin saw that. He knew Americans didn’t really understand what freedom is. They just like saying the word. So he started pumping them full of chaos. Troll farms. Fake news. Conspiracies. And he watched them eat it up, smiling. The land of the free, melting from the inside. Trump? Not a mastermind. Just a balloon full of ego, drifting wherever praise and power blow. They didn’t recruit him. They just played him. Put a few young girls near a hotel camera, whisper some flattery, push his face on Russian state TV. Boom. Useful idiot. But Elon? That’s something else. Elon’s not dumb. He’s dangerous. He bought Twitter to finish the job. Not for speech. For control. He knows what he’s doing. And it’s working. MAGA screams free speech while banning books silencing teachers jailing protesters banning history crying about drag queens and begging for dictatorship because it makes them feel safe. That’s the free speech hyparadox. They love freedom until it’s used against their feelings. They scream truth while choking it. And most Americans still don’t get it. Because the real weapon wasn’t lies it was ego wrapped in a flag sold as liberty and executed with a damn retweet

MAGA right now is like local drunk clowns at a global party🤡➡️🎪➡️🇺🇸 For a brief moment, the whole world is staring at them, not because they’re powerful, not because they’re respected, but because they’re so loud, so ridiculous, so historically embarrassing that you can’t look away. They should enjoy it while it lasts. Because once Trump is gone, and he will be gone, -The world will move on. -The spotlight will shift. -America will clean itself up, or collapse trying. -And MAGA will be left rotting in history, like discarded circus tents after the show leaves town. They won’t be remembered as warriors. They’ll be remembered the way we remember people who used to scream about flat earth. Curious. Sad. Forgotten. You can’t clown your way into respect. You can’t shout “Let’s Go Brandon” into history books and expect honor. They branded themselves already, not as patriots, but as America’s global embarrassment. And no election, no meme, no rally will wash it off. Generations will laugh at them. Until one day, they’ll be nothing more than a punchline in textbooks next to “Prohibition” and “Duck and Cover drills.” Enjoy the attention, clowns. The next chapter doesn’t have your name in it. “MAGA is like a dying fireworks show — loud, messy, burning everything around it — but forgotten before the smoke even clears.”
