@JimTresselJunr @Metaleka_ Yep, thats why they are successful where ever they go. Sounds to me that youve never been successful so you dont understand what it takes. Its ok, ditch digging is appreciated by a big percentage of the population

Michigans defense was so freaking awesome with Mike Macdonald and Jesse Minter at the helm. Harbaugh talks about the two head coaches and their beginning of greatness.

We can argue till the cows come home but when it matters most, biggest games, most important moments in said games, the big ten teams are there making the plays. I did make the comment about the lower level teams but who really gives a shit. Its all about the most important moments. How much does 2nd place pay in sales. Zero.

@Buckeyefan_Dan @Metaleka_ Yeah. They all ran to a more difficult league and have succeeded there. Tell me one coach that coached under sweater, urban or day and then coached a down in the nfl as a head coach.

@muck_photo What happened to their offense? 'Our head sign stealer risked everything & wasted all that time, energy, & resources fot no reason!' No one can logical can claim it was the only reason they were good, just like no one can claim that it didn't help them. Stalions clearly

@Sabanfreak @mikerodak @JimmyStein_LOB Bama paid players in the saban era, created a major competitive advantage. Rules have changed, bama doesnt have the money to keep up, so they blame a very good coach who just got extended. I put this up to my nosy and it dont smell so rosy.... Enjoy the decline.

@mikerodak @JimmyStein_LOB I hear what Coach Saban is saying but if Kalen DeBoer doesn’t want to hear negative comments from the Bama fans, try this… Don’t get blown out three times in one season with one of them being a team that went 5-7. Start there, then come talk to me about the negative attitude

Nick Saban to @finebaum on Alabama head-coaching job: "The best traditional jobs are no longer the best traditional jobs. The people who have the most money have the best opportunity to win. That’s the way it is. Just because you have great tradition doesn’t mean if you don’t have the support to pay the players, other teams are gonna do better than you."
Mike Rodak@mikerodak

Nick Saban to @finebaum on Kalen DeBoer: "Obviously other people recognize that he had an opportunity to go to Michigan and if Alabama wanted to keep him, they had to step up and do it. It was the right thing because we would’ve lost our roster if he would’ve left."

If your ‘national title run’ was only 2 playoff games, is it really a championship or just a long weekend? Michigan Wolverines fans acting like they climbed Everest when they really took the escalator. Michigan has played in zero 🏈 playoff games in the modern playoff era.

It's basically a budget issue. Alabama spent more on football than most schools during Saban's tenure and got a great return on its investment. He was ahead of the curve on things like increasing the size of his staff and looking for every advantage he could gain. That's the heart of competition. Combine superior resources and superior use of them, and you build a dynasty. Which he did.

Don't recall Nick calling for an equilibrium of 4-stars and 5-stars when he was stacking them at Alabama and bludgeoning less-talented opponents with them.
Mike Rodak@mikerodak

Nick Saban to @finebaum calls for an "equilibrium" among CFB teams' spending: "One team shouldn't have a $40 million roster and another team have a $5 million roster, and they're out there playing each other. There should be some kind of -- every league, NFL, basketball, hockey -- they all have a salary cap or something that creates parity in the league so everybody has an equal opportunity to win." It should be noted that pro sports' salary caps are part of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) between players' unions and the leagues, which if adopted in college sports would involve players as employees -- something the NCAA and conferences have resisted.

@DylanEveryday There are so many coaches that havent lived up to their talent. Thats why they are stuck in college and havent been invited to the gold standard of coaching. The nfl.

@RobertBrewtf @wmllmoore @BamaYoutube Ps. I would take kalen over saban when talent is disbursed like it is today. Saban paid players which created a huge advantage. It was a different era than it is today. Again, as ive said in another response is God will still love you regardless of your record.

@DECpgagolf @wmllmoore @BamaYoutube DeBoer is an assistant coach. Idk why people are making him into something he’s not…. Indiana didn’t have to be top ten NIL they have a legit coach that knows what to look for in players

Did you see what he did at Washington. How about beating uga twice. He out coached kirby. Too many injuries at the end of the year (2025). Trent dilfer (not well like in the state i get it) explained how iu put their team together. Lots of money on both lines of scrimmage and the qb. Were smart on skill players. NIL money is needed to compete at the highest level and im not sure bama has what is needed.

Yes and no. IU paid top dollar for their o line and d line along with mandozza. These positions cost a lot of money but they also were smart w the skill guys. Basically like the best nfl teams build their teams which will make those positions much more expensive in the future. College football is becoming like the K economy. Only the privileged will be enjoying the fruits of success. I know it sucks but its only football. God will always love you.

@DECpgagolf @BamaYoutube That’s a pathetic excuse. Indiana had nowhere near the top nil but what they do have is a real coach that can see talent. DeBoer literally see 5 or 4 star and nothing else. He lost he doesn’t know what to look for in players

Soooo we can disagree on deboer but here is the real issue. He will get the blame for bama s decline but the real issue is there isnt enough nil money needed to compete at the levels that the fan base wants. It will become a cluster Its already happening and the ink hasnt dried on his extension. Couldnt happen to a better fan base. Enjoy the decline.

@mikerodak @finebaum Saban had absolutely no problem with stockpiling 5-star talent 3-deep on his roster and playing against teams who didn’t have the “ability” to recruit those players…this is crazy work from someone who RAN from coaching when it was no longer favoring his own self-interest.

@Bomb3r_CFBMafia @mikerodak @finebaum He paid players and his buddy mark emrett who was the president at lsu when saban won a natty there paid him and the sec back by letting them get away with it. Saban is a hypocrite and wouldn't have the record he had if he did pay. So fuck saban

There is the quandary.. How do we square the circle? I know this quote is unironic, but ... This coming from arguably the best cfb coach of all time that always had access to the best of everything, but this a bit much to take 🫤: "pro sports' salary caps are part of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) between players' unions and the leagues, which if adopted in college sports would involve players as employees -- something the NCAA and conferences have resisted."

@georgewrighster June 15, 2021 and November 6, 1860 are dates that will live forever in the south. Unfortunately, the pain will be harsh bc football matters so much and they will not be dominant like the past.

The biggest story in college football isn’t one coach or one quarterback. It’s the balance of power has shifting from the SEC to the Big Ten in the portal/NIL era. Doesn’t mean the SEC is dead. It means the “it just means more” speech hits different when the wins say otherwise.
