The story behind the New York Times’ 1903 claim that human flight was between one and ten million years away is even worse than it looks. Once you understand the backstory, you realize that the New York Times story is not really about flight at all but about how elites and credentialed “experts” mistake their own failures for the boundaries of possibility. The New York Times did not dismiss the possibility of powered flight at random. There was a very specific reason behind it. At the time, America’s most prominent scientific authority, Smithsonian Secretary Samuel Langley, had been showered with large amounts of taxpayer funding to build an aircraft, the Langley Aerodrome. Despite all the money, institutional backing, and elite prestige, Langley and his team could not get it to fly, culminating in a series of very public failures, the last on December 8, 1903. So when the New York Times declared that flight was millions of years away, what it was really saying was that if the most credentialed and well-funded “experts” cannot do it, then it cannot be done. A mere nine days later, the elites’ proclamation of impossibility lay in ruins. Two totally unknown bicycle mechanics from Ohio achieved the first powered flight using improvised parts, a few hundred dollars of their own money, and sheer persistence. The story of flight is, at its core, a story of the triumph of American individualism over elite credentialism. The fact that it was the New York Times that inadvertently delivered the proof is the most fitting conclusion imaginable.

nobody is actually testing 100 creatives a week the only person I know doing that is doing $15M a month to test 100 creatives properly you need at least $100 on each one that's $10K a week just on testing do the math people just be yapping about it like they're actually doing it what you should actually be doing is testing 10 different angles a month find which angle works then make 5-10 creatives from that angle test angles and offers not creatives
DT Thomas@realdtthomas

question for media buyers ripping 100k+/mo is 100 new creatives a week too much or too little for finding winners if your winning creative % is around 15-20%

Annoying larping losers will go ahead and hyper analyze every image, email, and piece of copy when someone scales big This whole Medvi situation on Twitter is genuinely sad to see Shoutout Medvi and @galligator, at least a third of our monthly spend goes to there
Alex Cohen@anothercohen

Friend got a marketing email from Medvi this morning. Email copy aside, the provider they are using in the screenshot is an actual doctor, not an NP, whose real name is Alec Wier, and he is COMPLETELY UNAFFILIATED with Medvi. This entire company is run on fraud and deception and I hope the founder ends up in prison

An Indian father has been arrested in Dubai. He will be in jail for 2 years. His crime was sending images of missiles to his family through DMs. More than 21 Indians are in jail for the same reason. They are not allowed to contact their families. Many are facing physical abuse. Police officers are beating them up. They have not been allowed to have lawyers. No trials are expected to take place either. Dubai has rejected the requests of the Indian Embassy. Sources. NDTV, The Sun and DailyMail.

@Jason______A no real reason other than you use X to sometimes drop info/insight on the aff industry. Even posts like this guys keep things pretty vague, but still reveal more than you've ever mentioned running x.com/adv_ceo/status…
Dom 🧙‍♂️@adv_ceo

Aff Marketing Side Quest 35 days ago I started to seriously play around in the aff space (still running our own eCom, so it was just a side thing). Team was literally for the most part myself and my right-hand person (we had some help from our creative team but not too much). Feels like I still got it as a media buyer myself. What we have done: - Heavy manual media buying - Heavy, heavy, heavy ADV/funnel testing/copywriting - Nearly 100% static images/slideshow What we have been running: - All WH only (no Casino, Dating or whatever, I don't even know how to run that) - eCom offers (mostly bigger brands where I know the owner personally with a CPA deal) - CPL offers (insurances, loans) - Digital CPA offers (digistore shit) I still have absolutely no idea what we are doing here. We have no biz dev, no media buyers besides me, no devs, so please don't ask me in DMs how to get started with it. I don't even know! The only reason I think it worked out OK for us is because the only thing we are good at is running ads and landing pages/advertorials, everything else we suck at. So by finding a biz model that only focuses on that, it somehow worked out. Take it as inspiration: if you are doing something right now that isn't working out, maybe you are just in the wrong biz model. Check what your actual skills are and go all in on them. If you are an Affiliate yourselfe or run an Affiliate Team, hit me up I want to connect

Will assume he has some sort of plan to exit because allowing this article to be written has to be the absolute dumbest thing on the planet for anyone to do. I see zero pros and about 1000 cons to having this published.

In 2025, Medvi’s first full year in business, the company generated $401 million in sales. Mr. Gallagher then hired his only employee, his younger brother, Elliot. Meta spent $2 billion on Manus AI and shipped it inside Ads Manager in 7 weeks... fastest product integration in Meta history right now you type "why did my ROAS drop 18% last month" and Manus investigates across your data, pulls competitor activity from the Ad Library, and returns structured findings the analysis layer alone does what agencies bill $10K/month for... and 4 million advertisers have access under the Tools menu without knowing it's there it has never been easier to run ads

Recently got sent an investor deck in a niche I’m also involved in. They’re raising $2M on a $10M cap with barely any revenue… and I’d bet that round fills fast. It’s a SAFE too which is laughable. Meanwhile I’ve had people trying to invest in my stuff for 10+ years and I’ve always said no. I never wanted a boss. Or even worse… feeling like I owe someone a phone call. I’d actually rather be homeless than have to speak to someone on the phone. I even thought about starting a car investment fund years ago. In this market it probably would’ve printed 3–5x. I have a slight regret for not doing it. But the negative thought of someone wiring me money and then calling me for an update? Yeah… no thanks. For the guys who have raised… How bad is it actually dealing with investors? Be honest. PS: I invest all the time. If it works, I’m not calling you.
If it goes to $0, I’m still not calling you. I underwrite everything to zero. I know most people aren’t built like that though.
Which is exactly why I’m hesitant to take their money.

A drunk Russian tourist in Phuket, Thailand, mocked local ladyboys, insulting them, waving her arms, and demanding they “prove their gender.” Her behavior wasn’t tolerated for long, and she was eventually "explained" that she shouldn't have done that.
