Trump ripped up the Iran nuclear deal and created this mess. Now, he's putting servicemembers in harm's way with no clear plan and no Congressional approval. The American people deserve answers — and Congress needs to do its job.

I think it is probably because the mainstream Democrats had forgotten about protecting our manufacturing jobs from globalization. Except for people like Bernie Sanders. But Hillary Clinton ignored his win in the Michigan primary, and failed to address his cries about people losing their jobs, or working from paycheck to paycheck, holding multiple jobs to make ends meet, and the top one percent holding 30% of our wealth. I think Trump stole Bernie’s agenda, blaming immigrants, stoking racial hatred, and won. But sadly, he is a conman. Instead of taking care of working people, he gave himself and his billionaire friends huge tax cuts in 2017 and made them permanent in 2025 with his so-called “big and beautiful” bill. For hardworking Americans, he tried to take away affordable health care for millions in 2017, and when he failed, he let the ACA tax credits expire in 2025. Biden did a good job by adding more than 700,000 to 775,000 manufacturing jobs to the U.S. economy from January 2021 through late 2024. Construction of new manufacturing facilities in the U.S. doubled from 2021 to 2023, driven by his policies such as clean energy and semiconductor projects. But Biden seemed tone-deaf on the problems at our southern border. He should have declared a national emergency and stopped the asylum program until Congress comes up with comprehensive immigration laws. He should have addressed inflation more aggressively, perhaps directing the DOJ to prosecute price gougers. Once again, with his conning instinct, Trump used the border issue, fanned racial hatred as usual, like lying about Haitians eating pets, promised to end inflation, and settled the war in Ukraine "on Day One," to win the election the second time. And once again, instead of fulfilling his promises like taming inflation, Trump illegally uses arbitrary and chaotic tariffs to bully our allies, driving up the cost of groceries, cars, homes, etc. As for ending the war in Ukraine “on day one”, after one year, it is still raging. Not only that, he invaded Venezuela and threatened to take over Greenland, our NATO ally, with force if necessary, all without congressional approval. He also started an economic war against Canada, Mexico, the EU, Colombia, Cuba, and whatever nation he deems not happy about in the middle of the night. Now he is sending two naval carrier groups to the Middle East, to perhaps start a war with Iran. Instead of ending wars, he is initiating new ones, acting like a warmonger. We are in a critical juncture in our country. If he successfully steal our mid-term election either by conning the voters again, or by the brute force of his paramilitary ICE, we might lose America’s 250 years of democracy.

I’ll never understand how America went from Barack Obama to Donald Trump. From dignity, empathy, and competence to grievance, cruelty, and chaos. It wasn’t an accident. It was backlash. Backlash to having a smart, principled, wildly popular Black president who proved this country could be better. And some people couldn’t stand it.
