@DefencePhoto In short, some is the same, i.e. ophiolites (ancient seabed mixed with igneous rocks) , but the Zagros mountains (!) are largely recent sedimentary sequences.
In terms of an operating environment, it's incredibly complex.

In July 1917 the Italians dug and loaded two 2-tonne mines under Monte Rosso. Before they had a chance to blow them, Austrian tunnellers broke into the blast chambers and stole all the Italian explosives. The Austrians later used those explosives to blow up the Italian tunnels.

This October, HQ ARRC will join NATO Allies for Exercise Avenger Triad 25, a key U.S.-led command post exercise held alongside NATO’s Steadfast Duel. Together, these exercises focus on refining NATO’s defence plans and integrating command systems. Troops from across Europe and the US will take part in simulated large-scale combat operations, building on lessons learned from previous exercises to strengthen NATO’s collective readiness. #WeAreNATO
