🚨 It’s been a rather odd and controversial employment feature at the U.S. @CapitolPolice, but corruption, criminality, and racking up as many disciplinary actions as possible seems the fastest pathway to promotion and power there. Just as one of their most notorious Asst. Chiefs retires—Sean Gallagher—he is replaced by someone equally contemptible—John Erickson. Gallagher and Erickson even participated in an overtime pay scheme, defrauding the department out of thousands of dollars. A “terminable” offense by policy, but both men skated by with only wrist slaps, followed by promotions up the ladder of Capitol Police leadership. As stated in the attached press release, these criminal infractions are well known amongst the good men and women serving in the rank and file of the USCP, and the latest elevation of one of their “not so finest” isn’t playing well with their confidence in current leadership. 🇺🇸 Hundreds packed Washington Square Park today to smoke weed in broad daylight. Cops were right there the whole time and didn't touch anyone. 4/20 used to mean arrests. Now it's basically a public holiday in Manhattan, with NYPD standing around doing crowd control for an open-air smoke session. A decade ago this got you cuffed.
