The number e (about 2.71828) is a key constant in mathematics. It is the base of natural logarithms and is used to describe continuous growth—like compound interest, population changes, or decay. It is often called Euler’s number, after Leonhard Euler, though the constant was first discovered by Jacob Bernoulli while studying compound interest. It is also known as Napier’s constant, honoring John Napier.

I got this security question on an Adobe docusign. I was born in 1970 so I selected 1981. It marked my answer as wrong. Was I supposed to answer "None of the above"?

The Sixth Street Bridge in Los Angeles cost taxpayers $588 million. Because of repeated copper wire thefts, it no longer lights up at night. The City now admits it takes them sometimes up to 270 days to fix one streetlight. Also, instead of punishing the criminals who are committing these thefts and forcing them to pay restitution, the City today just voted to increase everyone’s taxes with a new fee hike. @Darren_Mooney The director works for the showrunners. And if the showrunners say “we need a closeup of our lead here” and it doesn’t exist because the director shot the whole scene in a master, that’s a big problem.

When I hear the phrase “lacking coverage”, I think of Billy Wilder famously refusing to shoot coverage, because coverage was what the studio used when they wanted to screw him. Coverage makes hacking up a piece of media in the editting room a lot easier.

EXCLUSIVE: Sources say Chloé Zhao ultimately proved a mismatch for the “Buffy” reboot, with the pilot reportedly undershot and lacking coverage, requiring reshoots. Her filmmaking style, while acclaimed, didn’t translate to a dialogue-heavy TV pilot, and the new cast’s performances were said to be under-directed, making it difficult for the characters to land. variety.com/2026/tv/news/b…

@BradRTorgersen Did you read this one? Much drier but still a great read. As an eighties kid I ate this up at age 14 or so.

It's alt-history now, but RED STORM RISING was the first "thick" book I ever read. I was 13. Had made the jump from "juvenile" books the year prior, with a Jove War Book about a Marine night fighter pilot during WW2. And though the Marine's story was biographical, RED STORM RISING seemed germane. I was (and still am) a military history and military technology nerd. This book was *perfect* for a boy growing up in the Cold War 1980s. Took me weeks. But I loved it.

It’s kind of insane to think about; but within living memory one of the most popular authors was a guy who wrote military books for dorky teens and middle aged men.

@DRRanshaw I once had to work on a screenplay about the two smartest men in the world trying to outwit each other. That was a giant headache.

@RMBee I will go to my grave saying Trek 2009 was a terrific, well cast movie that brought interest back to the franchise for the first time in ages. Too bad they fumbled the follow ups.
