Is that weird to block my driveway like this? I just moved into my new house over the weekend and I came down this morning to find this random white car had parked right in front of my drive way (the grey Hyundai is mine). When the miserable old fart came to move it I popped out and politely asked him not to block my driveway but he was adamant that this is public property and anybody is allowed to park there. So I’m curious, do you think this was a strange place to park or am I being overly protective? He’s clearly not stopping me from being able to get out if I needed to, it just seems a bit rude to me

In more "Twitter isn't real life" news, a prominent layperson in another part of my diocese shared this to her Facebook page. She's a public supporter (and I think a paid up member of many years' standing) of Reform UK and before that of UKIP...

@pastoralfi @liambeadle If you don’t pass convincingly, then I’m sorry but that’s bad luck, because you’re going to make others feel uncomfortable. This would stop almost all the opportunistic pervs, because they don’t pass and have no interest in doing so.

@pastoralfi @liambeadle My personal, perhaps idiosyncratic, opinion is that trans people should use facilities appropriate to their identified sex ONLY if they pass convincingly—so if no-one would really guess you’re biologically male, into the ladies’ you go; and ditto trans men in the gents’.

@WalkerMarcus I’ve always been a big fan of Kemi—but she’s quite simply backing the wrong horse.

@FatManTerra @JDVance Yes, it’s vinyl stickers—believe it or not, they wouldn’t be allowed to deface the ancient stonework of the Cathedral permanently—but why make a beautiful and holy space look ugly even temporarily? I grew up near Canterbury, and this is heartbreaking.

@JDVance I haven't seen a single person yet mention that this isn't real graffiti. These are carefully pasted vinyl stickers that will be taken off in a couple months when the exhibition ends. They obviously didn't permanently deface a sacred building.

@liambeadle The generation Bishop Richard Chartres referred to as ‘Jasper’s children’. Most of them are dead now.

A lovely reflection by my friend @PrudenceDailey on the reality of caring for someone you love. "But of course, being totally honest, there is a sense in which she is a burden. On the other hand, I was a burden to her when I was a premature baby who needed feeding every half hour night and day. We are meant to be burdens to one another—it’s the human condition."

@WalkerMarcus Yes, it’s vile—although I’m pretty sure the wax seals have been plastic for a while. I hope when they are restored they will be actual wax again.

This government is just loathsome. On the one hand this is a small thing, on the other hand it is so indicative of a mindset that loathes its own country and history. I just hope there is a properly reactionary government soon that reverses every decision of 2024-9.
Kate Ferguson@kateferguson4

EXCL: Government will stop using wax seals on official documents. Seals were first used by Kings 1,000 years ago and have been used by the Govt for 150 years. It will be scrapped as part of red tape slashing drive to speed up govt for taxpayers Fab story by @SophiaSleigh

So good that the Church of England—in contrast to some other Anglican Provinces—maintains its clear and consistent opposition to assisted suicide. The few dissenters are a TINY minority.

@Psephizo I don’t understand why some liberals think we all suddenly changed our minds for some reason. It’s not very credible, is it?

Charlie Bell is being economical with the truth here. The reason why the *amended* motion had near universal support was precisely because it did *not* indicate any such change. The doctrine, canons, and vows and thus obligations remain unchanged.

@WalkerMarcus @_F_B_G_ Would you like me to put you in touch with the Vicar of St Michael at the North Gate? Also, I’m not sure you CAN leave LLF at the door, sadly. At least, you need to ask the question as to WHETHER OR NOT views on sexuality are relevant to the revival. (I don’t know the answer.)

This quiet revival... who has seen hints of it? I'm very concerned the CofE is going to miss the boat - I've seen almost no analysis of it or commentary from senior church figures. So... @_F_B_G_ and I would like to get off our backsides and do something! biblesociety.org.uk/research/quiet…
