***Hammer Fire Update*** The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has LIFTED the EVACUATION ORDER for Hammer Rd east to S Peyton Hwy and Myers Rd north to Squirrel Creek. It is safe to return to the area.

As wildfire risk continues to rise in the Pikes Peak Region, regulatory clarity from the EPA on how wildfire emissions are treated is more important than ever. @RepGabeEvans’ FIRE Act would give states more flexibility to use prescribed burns & ensure out-of-state wildfire smoke does not unfairly count against our air quality standards.

Adoption is an incredible act of compassion that improves the lives of both parent and child. But oftentimes, families choose against adoption because of the extreme costs. I am pleased to confirm that the Air Force will make all necessary funds available to support military families as they embark on this amazing journey.

Thanks to Jennifer Beauter and the rest of the team at Breakthrough T1D for coming to DC to advocate for those diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. T1D is more common than many people realize. In the U.S. alone, over 1.5 million individuals of all ages are living with T1D.

I’m truly honored to meet with one of our constituents from Colorado Springs, Chris Kinnard with the Gold Star Spouses of America. She is the widow of SP4 James Kinnard, who was tragically KIA in Vietnam in 1969. She came to my office to advocate for legislation to support all our military surviving spouses to ensure they receive the proper resources from the VA.

CHA Vice President Josh Hannes and his team came to my office to discuss the burdens associated with prior authorizations and how we can work together to lower the cost of healthcare.

The Colorado Hospital Association represents over 100 urban and rural hospitals in Colorado, including 9 hospitals in #CO05. Hospitals provide quality care for our communities, and I am thankful for their efforts and all health care workers who provide this care.

The Military Officers Association of America is the nation’s largest nonprofit association of uniformed service officers, representing over 350,000 members from every branch.   I met with #CO05 constituents from MOAA in our DC office to discuss legislation that would support our service members and veterans, which aims to expand access to timely, high-quality care.

Merrick & Company, an employee-owned firm with an office in Colorado Springs, specializes in a number of different services that support our infrastructure needs, like designing water systems and energy facilities.   CFO Steven Betts came to DC to give us an update on all the great things the company is working towards and legislation to help them achieve their goals. #CO05
