On 03.06.2026, security forces arrested an active cadre of PREPAK from Sawombung Khunjao near Primary Health Centre under Lamlai-PS, Imphal East district namely, Thangjam Nganba Meetei alias Inao alias Leishabi (23) of Khurai Konsam Leikai under Porompat-PS, Imphal East district. From his possession, 01 (one) four-wheeler and other incriminating items were seized.

The Kuki Organization for Human Rights Trust (KOHUR) has called for a court-supervised National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the killing of Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulun Lhouvum, and Pastor Paogoulun Sitlhou in Manipur on May 13. In a statement, KOHUR questioned claims made by the United Naga Council (UNC) regarding the incident and alleged that the attack may have been part of a larger coordinated conspiracy. The organisation said an independent investigation is necessary to establish the facts surrounding the killings, related abductions, and other incidents reported in Kuki-inhabited areas. KOHUR also demanded the immediate release of 14 Kuki men reportedly being held in Senapati district and reiterated its opposition to hostage-taking. The KukiCommunity is furious and strongly condemns the disgraceful failure of Central Forces and the SP of Kangpokpi district for allegedly allowing NSCN-IM, ZUF Kamson group, Liangmai volunteers, Arambai Tenggol, and Myanmar-based Meitei militants to burn down Kharam Vaiphei Kuki ancestral village while innocent civilians were left helpless under gunfire and terror. This is not law and order. This is not protection of civilians. This is a complete betrayal of innocent citizens who trusted the Indian system for safety and justice. While Kuki village volunteers were reportedly being neutralized and restrained, armed groups allegedly moved freely with sophisticated weapons, setting homes on fire and forcing innocent villagers, women, children, and elderly people to run for their lives. Kuki ancestral land was turned into ashes while authorities stood by. The KukiCommunity further states that video evidence and footage from the ground allegedly show how Central Forces were present while NSCN-IM, ZUF Kamson group, Liangmai volunteers, Arambai Tenggol, and Myanmar-based Meitei militants advanced toward Kharam Vaiphei village during the attack. According to local civilians, the proof is still visible in videos circulating from the incident, raising serious and disturbing questions regarding how armed groups were allegedly able to move and operate so openly during the burning of the village. These allegations demand an immediate independent investigation by high authorities. The KukiCommunity is deeply angered by allegations that security forces and officials failed to stop the attack and instead created conditions that allowed armed groups to operate openly. If armed militants can burn villages, terrorize civilians, and attack innocent people under the watch of security forces, then serious questions must be asked: Who is protecting the people, and who is protecting the militants? Even more heartbreaking, one innocent civilian from Kharam Vaiphei village is now missing and is feared to have been captured by NSCN-IM, ZUF Kamson group, Liangmai volunteers, and Arambai Tenggol-linked militants. The family members are crying in fear and helplessness while nobody can confirm whether the missing civilian is alive or dead. This silence from authorities is unacceptable and inhuman. The KukiCommunity demands immediate rescue operations and the safe return of the captured civilian. We demand strict action against every militant group and every official responsible for allowing the destruction of Kharam Vaiphei village. Enough of the selective silence. Enough of the political games. Enough of watching Kuki villages burn while innocent civilians suffer endlessly. The Government of India, judiciary, human rights bodies, and international community must understand that Kuki ancestral villages are being destroyed, civilians are being displaced, and lives are being shattered while armed groups continue to spread fear without accountability. The Kuki people will not remain silent while our land burns and our people disappear. Thousands of Kuki-Zo people participated in a massive rally in Kangpokpi, Manipur, on Friday under the banner of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), demanding justice for three slain church leaders, the immediate release of 14 Kuki-Zo hostages, and an expedited political solution to the ongoing crisis in the state. The rally, attended by civil society leaders, church members, youth and elders, saw participants raise slogans calling for justice, security and equal protection under the Constitution.
