Manipur: On the first day of the UNC bandh, human rights are violated as the main water supply for the Kuki community in Litan, Ukhrul District, is shut down by a group of Tangkhul mothers. Authorities need to address this issue promptly. @UNHumanRights @India_NHRC @unwomenchief

Tension was reported in South Changoubung village of Kangpokpi district, Manipur, on Tuesday, April 21, after a dispute linked to the bandh called by the United Naga Council. According to a statement issued by the South Changoubung Village Authority, a group of volunteers from T. Khullen entered its jurisdiction without prior consent. The Authority alleged that the group blocked public roads, disrupted the movement of residents and attempted to compel shopkeepers to shut their establishments. The Village Authority described the actions as a violation of its administrative jurisdiction and said such conduct could strain relations between neighbouring communities. It clarified that it does not oppose the bandh itself and holds no grievance against residents of T. Khullen, but objected to what it termed coercive enforcement within its area. #manipur #manipurnews #manipurcrisis #manipurviolence #bandhcall

S. Changoubung VA stated that they do not oppose the bandh called by the UNC. But they defend the outsider intrusion into their village, which has led to mob violence in their territory. The concerned authority must control the situation @ANI @PTI_News @HMOIndia @manipur_police

The Kuki Inpi Manipur calls for a thorough, impartial and time-bound investigation into the TM Kasom incident on April 18. They condemn UNC and TNL for alluding to a particular community without any concrete evidence. @ANI @PTI_News @MIB_India @HMOIndia @ShashiTharoor @ttindia

The Kuki-Zo Council has denied any role of Kuki-Zo groups in the recent ambush near T.M. Kasom village in Ukhrul district that killed two people. The council said reports linking Kuki groups to the attack were unverified and unsupported by evidence, urging people not to jump to conclusions while the incident is still under investigation. The statement came after allegations by some Tangkhul organisations that Kuki militants were behind the ambush on vehicles travelling from Imphal to Ukhrul. The council appealed for restraint and cautioned against spreading misinformation that could further inflame tensions in Manipur. #manipurviolence #kukizo #ukhrul #kuki #meitei

Kuki civil society organisations and villagers in Manipur’s Mongkot Chepu paid homage to slain BSF constable Mithun Mandal, asserting that his “supreme sacrifice” must not be misrepresented. Mandal, a personnel of the Border Security Force, died after being hit by a stray bullet during an exchange of fire between suspected Kuki-Zo and Tangkhul Naga village volunteers in Ukhrul district on April 10, officials said. The incident took place around 4:45 pm at Mongkot Chepu village under Litan police station, when firing reportedly broke out between suspected Kuki-Zo volunteers from Mongkot Chepu and Tangkhul Naga volunteers from Shikibung village. A solemn candlelight vigil was later held in the village under the aegis of the Kuki CSO Working Committee (WCKCSOs) and the local village authority to honour the fallen constable. #ManipurCrisis #manipur #manipurnews #manipurviolence

A Kuki organisation, rejected the allegations that members of the community were connected to the incident. scroll.in/latest/1091931… The group said that “any untoward incident” affecting the Meiteis “should not be automatically attributed to the Kuki-Zo people without proper investigation”. #Manipur
