@TylerLitrel @historigins Thats a perspective issue, not a curved issue. Cameras with longer focal lengths have proven the earth has no curve.

Not to be alarmist, but I am genuinely terrified for the future I developed an antenna that emits directed radiation. It's like 5G but higher bandwidth. It can serve blazingly fast internet, but it can also instantly lobotomize anyone within 500 meters. Just locate your target, turn it on and destroy their brain forever Completely undetectable, battery powered, small enough to be concealed in your average backpack. Using this antenna, it would be trivial to murder anyone you wanted without consequence Currently only the US military has access to my prototypes. But in a week, I will be offering it up for public sale at eight million dollars per unit Now that I've educated you on the dangers, I think you can see why I'm so scared. I just pray my customers use this technology responsibly

@bryan_johnson Just cultivaye a fear of everything less than 100 years old. Plastics. Anything aerosol. Any medicines. etc. Significantly higher burden of proof to show something is not harmful than the burden of proof to show something is harmful

Guys, I’m an idiot. All this time I’ve spent trying not to die, I had toxic turf in my backyard. Artificial turf contains crumb rubber infill made from recycled tires, which leaches chemicals including PFAS, heavy metals, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. These compounds are linked to hormone disruption, carcinogenicity, and systemic inflammation. I don’t know how I missed it. It makes me question my basic competence in life. What gets me is that I try so hard to survey the world of potential idiocy. Then I find out there’s a monument to idiocy sitting right in front of my face that I was blind to. I’m removing the turf, yet I’m still stuck with this seemingly unsolvable problem of how to not be an idiot.

Back when he was a young(er) tortoise, Jonathan would get antsy if not given enough attention, and wander over to the croquet court, where he would knock over the bench and use his ponderous weight to crush the croquet balls of the players until they gave him attention He was also met by most of the Royals over his life, including each reigning monarch of the empire, after the time he made it to St. Helena

This shouldn’t need to be said, but it appears some people don’t actually know what this is This is not the “first stage” of SLS, this is the core stage, a sustainer stage. It performs the function of a traditional second stage on any other rocket, Placing a payload into orbit.

@arcticinstincts In an instant you can inhale all of the feelings of achievement and epiphany with none of the work and pain that lead to the realities thereof. A very dangerous trap.

Has anyone ever come out of these “profound” psychedelic trips with a verifiable scientific insight or breakthrough in physics or psychology or something? Can you fix Africa now? Why do these trip reports just read like Eckhart Tolle Burning man Deepak Chopramaxxed guruslop

This was the most profound experience of my life. I am stunned beyond comprehension. This molecule is without peer. The 27mg dose opened up what felt like pure consciousness and intelligence. A majestic reveal of existence itself. In all its incomprehensible glory and majesty. It is impossible to explain with words. Whatever you imagine, multiply it by 1,000 and then add infinite width and depth and dimensions. But entrance was not granted without prerequisite. Existence demanded that I submit. That I say yes; without attachment and without condition. Yes to existence; yes to the dissolution of self; yes to release control; yes, to all. My ego registered the ask and panicked. It wanted control. It was desperate for control. It pleaded to escape from the torrent of light and essence that threatened to rip my sanity into chards. The urge to eject was overwhelming. Terror thundered throughout my mind and body. It took everything within me to release. I overcame and was treated with bliss that defies imagination. A euphoria colored with perfect harmony of all things. An orchestra of essence washed over me and swept me up in dance. It was home. The highest aspiration of intelligent life. For some reason, stored and tucked away as the ultimate prize. A single concept emerged in omnipresence: we cannot grok the preciousness of our existence. Yet it is everything we’ve ever wanted and more. The state we long for without knowing it exists. This caused me great pain and heartache. A swell of loyalty and devotion emerged inside me, pledging allegiance to existence. To become a warrior and caretaker of life on earth. To protect at any cost the candle of consciousness that has miraculously emerged in this part of the galaxy. What awaits will wipe all your tears, soothe all your sorrows, and infinitely exceed your wants.

@RealCostef I think Adreessen misses here because he is himself. He behaves as himself. Does work he likes and became rich enough to not have to compromise overly much. So it is easy for him to miss how much others compromise and pretend.

I got a 2390/2400. My brother got a 1600/1600. No scholarships for either. No acceptance to Ivy leagues (or mit, caltech, stanford). Both played sports. Both involved in extra curics and volunteer work. Went to state schools and both doing fine in life but you're either engagement farming, actually retarded, or being willfully retarded. And everyone besides you knows it.

So these screen shots are presumably all fake, but I will answer for the benefit of any real cases like this who somehow cannot figure out what to do. At 1510 you are competitive applying to top 50 private schools, which tend to be "no loan" for non-affluent kids, the actual package they come back with if you are accepted is often effectively free tuition. You would also be avidly desired by lower ranked private universities, you could apply to several and let them compete for you in offering merit aid. Finally, if your in-State option for some reason does not offer you signficant aid (unlikely) there are a number of other public programs which openly detail the aid they give for National Merit Scholars, including out of state applicants. The most fail safe approach would be to apply to a mixture of top 50 privates, some lower ranked privates, and public schools known to give aid for NMS, and then compare financial offers. Grok is quite helpful in processing this information and I highly encourage you to use it to help you understand the details and procedures if you are on X.

Fitness bros are saying a 315 bench isn’t elite. There’s no way more than 1 in 10,000 (0.01%) men can do it. For guys over 45 it’s probably less than 1 in 50,000 (0.002%). For men who are also lean (~180 lbs) it’s probably less than 1 in 200,000 (0.005%).
