@RobMayeda Lapse rates look like they could support some wet flakes if the temps can get down to ~34-35 from what I can see… hope you guys get some excitement! ❄️

Accumulating ice pellets mixed with sleet in Danville along Camino Tassajara. Temperature quickly dropped from the low 40s to upper 30s on the drive home. Feels like I’m back in Tahoe! @nbcbayarea @NWSBayArea 2/17/2026

@skys_ramblings @ccace_wx @NWSNewYorkNY @ContentWxGuy @joshtimlin KFOK is in a spot where the sandy ground cools fast under ideal radiational cooling and where cold air pools. So it can act more like an inland cold pocket than a typical coastal spot. These cold pockets can be significantly colder than surrounding areas as we saw last night!

@ccace_wx @NWSNewYorkNY @ContentWxGuy @joshtimlin I would love to hear their thoughts! As someone who lives on the Connecticut coast, the concept of this is just kinda hard to wrap my mind around. I would expect a reading that’s closer to the warmer Atlantic to run a higher but I also know localized effects can be weird too.

🥶What a cold morning across the area! These are observed air temperatures, not wind chills. Out of all available data, the last time the Westhampton Gabreski Airport recorded a temperature of -10°F or lower was February 21, 2015. #NYCwx #NYwx #CTwx #NJwx

Oklahoma is so crazy. In the span of just a month, here at OU, we’ve: •Reached 86 degrees •Had tornadoes pass within a few miles •And THEN had a blockbuster Snowstorm •Wind chills reaching -14F •Over 100 Consecutive hours below freezing What could even come next lol.#okwx

Dense tule fog settled over CA’s Central Valley today, trapping chilly air under a strong inversion. Foothills are climbing into the 60s while the valley sits in the low 40s. KSMF is stuck at 43°F at noon, potentially the coldest Dec. 9 in Sacramento since the 1970s. #CAwx

There’s some extremely wet, dense snow falling in central Pennsylvania right now, causing the radar to light up like it’s Christmas. The reflectivities are so high it almost looks like a supercell 😂

A beautiful clash of seasons here at Penn State after numerous lake effect snow bands gave us solid accumulations last night. #PAwx

First teens of the season this morning in the Scotia Barrens. This microclimate can be 15-20° colder than Penn State’s campus on peak radiational cooling nights, even though it’s only located 4 miles away. The low at PSU was 36.2°, quite the drastic difference! #PAwx

Was hiking a familiar trail near Flagstaff when I came upon a ponderosa that was burning after a lightning strike. I photographed for at least an hour as it calmly burned. I'd contacted the Forest Service and they later came to extinguish it.
