Spirit Airlines only needed $500 million to survive. We’ve already spent $25 billion on the Iran War. Which one directly improves American lives more? A low-cost carrier staying in the market or another war in the Middle East?

@_coachrachel This is why a period of time prior to the portal opening where players can find out objectively where they would stand (kind of like what the NFL does before kids enter the draft) would be great.

@F_Piombo89 Here’s how I see it. Instead of getting rid of players like Nimmo because his politics were different than Lindor and it upset Lindor, maybe we should have got rid of the root of the problem.

Mets fans complain that they are tired of losing that it's been 40yrs since they last won a WS and want to see a championship. Yet those same fans are still crying over a core that never won anything and supporting below average players like Vientos or Baty. So what is it?

@SenBlumenthal How dumb can this questioning be? They ALL said Biden was the certified winner. What more do you need? You are just looking for a sound bite aren’t you?

More of the same rehearsed, stock answers from Trump’s judiciary nominees. We need judges who are fearless & strong, not spineless & weak—so fearful of Trump that they are unable to say Biden won the 2020 election.

@dsmith1462 @TheMetsX I’ll agree on Alonso and it’s looking like a good choice on Diaz. However Nimmo was not good. His deal at the tail end will be bad but instead he took someone whose deal is bad NOW. So we get 3 bad years we just get them sooner

He made the right call moving on from Alonso, Nimmo and Diaz. the peralta and meyers trade is a very good one as sproat and Williams have been terrible to start the year. Overall the production on the field has been shit but there’s also the issue of Baty , Alvarez, Mauricio and Vientos all being useless sacks of shit.

Hypothetical trade scenario: Yankees get: Juan Soto Mets get: Carlos Rodon, Gerritt Cole, Giancarlo Stanton, and Paul Goldschmidt This gives the Mets two good veteran SP’s, a DH who can perform well in the playoffs, and a real first baseman.

@NYNJHarper Let’s evaluate: - deal Nimmo for Semien instead of 2 bad years 3 years from now we get 3 bad years now - Robert - essentially he’s Taylor. Why do this? - Bichette - out of position how does that prevent runs - Polanco - see above but also not very good. Outsmarted himself here

When I polled scouts/execs just before ST about the Mets, not even the skeptics predicted doom. The low-end win prediction was 83 from a scout who said, "The bottom half of the lineup is full of holes." The high end was 95 from an exec who said, "I really like their pitching."

@BullandBaird I can’t blame them. I have no idea how it “ruined their legacy”. They’re free agents, independent contractors. It doesn’t make them a villain because they took the highest contract they could find. MLB NFL NBA players do this all the time. They don’t change leagues but still

@chucktodd @RMH17841874 How about we just have states vote for congress, and like a presidential election, we assign the seats based on the ratio of the vote? Virginia gets 11 seats if it is 55/45 then it’s 6/5. We do not need a house with 800 seats even if ratio is the same. Won’t be productive

@RMH17841874 So in 1930, Congress passed a self-imposed cap on the overall number of House members at 435. Before 1930, the House expanded based on the population of the country.

There really is only one way to improve representation for all Americans in Congress: UNCAP THE HOUSE! It’s what the founders intended; they did NOT want to see Congressional Districts that were bigger than most major cities. Want to dilute the influence of courts and partisans, UNCAP THE HOUSE!

Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach. The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

If the Democrats don't make rebalancing and expanding the Supreme Court a top priority for whenever (if?) they next get into power, then I don't know what to say anymore. The GOP-packed court is the biggest block on progress in this country and has been for a while.

@mehdirhasan The court isn’t “GOP packed”. Just like it’s been in this country for centuries, when a justice retires or dies they are replaced by the current President. Packing the court would be adding extra seats becuase you do not like the outcome of the rulings
