PSA. don't pair a logitech MX Ink to multiple headsets. it will disable the controllers on all the headsets whenever someone uses it and there's no option to unpair 🙃

@VRCatalans @SadlyItsBradley ... and if you do align the virtual panel with a physical desk, as in this example, it still uses collision based input (not the tip tuch sensor inputs)

Quest Artists: Does the Logitech MX Ink stylus work AT ALL with 2D sideloaded Android applications? If it does, how far does the support go? Any pressure sensitivity reporting to apps? (I’m guessing no 😅)

Working on a new @openbrushapp piece with the @Logitech MX Ink pen. I have some suggestions for better integration, if you're interested in hearing.

There was a post recently (that I can’t find — X search is not great) suggesting VR devs should continue refining their offering like an app, instead of moving on to the next game. In many cases, I think that is wise. I still buy every single @BeatSaber pack and @WalkaboutMG course, but I don’t really stay current with new VR games. This does mean you have to choose a certain style of game to develop, and some people recoil at the notion that their creative vision should be impacted by a business decision. Really creative people are awash in ideas, and the challenge is filtering through them to decide what will be pursued. Bringing some business input into the filtering process is not an abdication! Over the years, I often considered how things might have gone if Id Software had gone all-in on Doom, instead of swerving with Quake. Ship a new title every year with incremental features instead of bundling up in a revolutionary release. It was not at all obvious back then that games could franchise like that over the long term before Call of Duty showed such massive success, so we didn’t really consider rolling right into Doom 3 — we were excited to start with a blank sheet for Quake. Of course, it clearly wouldn’t have been as successful if we had tried to do that with Wolfenstein or Keen, so there is still a good argument for exploration.

@utopiah Yes, I knew @AsMirry was working on this book, so I'll certainly pick up a copy and see how it translates to MX Ink #MXInk

Logitech MX Ink - XR Stylus. A quick review from WebXR's point of view. Great device! With better-than-expected tracking, very nice vibration feedback, pressure sensitive tip, out-of-the-box WebXR support and more, details and videos are below. 🧵

@Kokyung_Byun @CubismVR I'd played and really liked Cubism. Didn't know it supported controllers. Interesting to play with stylus! Feels more "precise". Of course app would need to be updated/tweaked for better representation of stylus aim/grip pose.

Playing @CubismVR with MX INK. It's little bit hard to click because middle pressure button remapped as trigger. And initializing by two controller trigger click at title doesn't work with MX INK.

@NathanSudds @Haulik @NathanSudds Yes, there is OS support. It will work using a legacy mode by default, but apps will need to explicitly add support to have a good UX. All the APIs are in Meta Core SDK. Hopefully you can make the suggestion to Workrooms :)

@Haulik Remote Desktop/Remote Display has supported multiple screens but unfortunately it went away soon after.... I'm hoping it comes back soon! Workrooms doesn't support MX ink? That's so strange, I didn't know that, I thought it was supported on the OS level.

It’s unfortunate that the Remote Display app doesn’t support multiple screens, and while Workrooms can handle three displays, it doesn’t support the MXink. Adding just one more screen in Remote Display would be fantastic! I hope it's on the roadmap.

@timoni This widely reference 2014 paper proposes a model for mid-air aim interesting ... and t-rex arm (not called that in the paper!) is indeed "better" REF: Hincapié-Ramos, Juan David, et al. "Consumed endurance: a metric to quantify arm fatigue of mid-air interactions." CHI2014.

It's Sunday, so today I want to introduce you all to a new term that should become part of your HCI vocabulary: t-rex arm. You've heard of gorilla arm and how it is bad, right? Right. Well, t-rex arm is good. What is t-rex arm?
