@modernheroestv That's useful to know. There's a post office by my office, but knowing me it'll go wrong and I'll be walking home!

Reminder: if you have recently bought a used EV that falls into the luxury tax band but has a list price of under £50k, you can SORN and retax it today and pay £200 instead of £640, getting a refund for the amount you’ve paid. Only applies to those that bought a used car registered after 01/04/25 with a list price of over £40k but under £50k. If you’re the first owner, you’ll not have been affected and your tax renewal will be £200 anyway. Just call me @MartinSLewis from now on I guess 😅

@generationgav @OctopusEnergy @g__j It is really frustrating and I sense that people are thinking that Octopus will shaft those of us on variable IOG. If the cut of 3.5p was standard surely they would have announced to everyone at the same time. This mirrors the poor comms around the 6 hour limit.

Hey @OctopusEnergy @g__j - for us long standing customers on variable OIG there seems to be some real misinformation about getting the cut in April and how much it will be. Can this be clarified?

A rollercoaster survival thriller ‘INVERTIGO’ is in the works from the producers of ‘FALL’. The film follows a group of teens who sneak onto a rollercoaster before its debut opening until a system failure traps them 100s of feet in the air, forcing them to fight for survival. (Source: Deadline)

Looks like I'll be getting rid of all of my @madebygoogle and @googlenesthelp equipment, as Google Support is about the worst I've dealt with. Being charged double on my Google AI account and being told that nothing can be done, despite it being illegal.

@Stumu82 @VWUKFinanceHelp @Motor_Ombudsman @UKVolkswagen @VertuMotors Is it a lease or a PCP? VW will be as useless - in my case VWFS was the most helpful. Mind dropping me a DM? Not sure how much I'll be able to help but I went through very similar and won. Also depending on the fault I might be able to get you somebody who can help with evidence.

@agricontract @RangeRover Did you buy it on finance (PCP or HP) as I've found the finance company are much more scared of the FCA than anything else.

@_jaydeepkarale Or build everything serverless and don't have to worry about instances, OSes or scaling.

Do this: 1. Open AWS and create an account. 2. Go to EC2, spin up an instance, generate a key pair, and SSH into it from your local system. Just play around install Nginx, deploy a Node app, break things, fix them. 3. Decide to launch something? Go to Security Groups open ports for HTTP (80), HTTPS (443), and SSH (22). 4. Grab your instance’s public IP, open it in your browser, and you’ll see your app running on the cloud. 5. Start scaling ? create another EC2 instance and set up an Application Load Balancer to route traffic. 6. Tired of adding instances manually? Use Auto Scaling Groups (ASG) define min/max instances, attach a launch template/AMI of your app, and AWS will scale automatically based on CPU or request load. 7. Getting millions of requests and your DB is choking? Use Kafka or SQS for buffering high-throughput workloads. Learn more about async 8. Store images, videos, or backups? Use S3 connect it from your app via the SDK, and make a file uploader. 9. Use RDS for managed databases (MySQL/Postgres). AWS handles backups, scaling, and maintenance. 10 Use CloudWatch to monitor your instances, logs, and metrics. Set up alerts when CPU spikes or memory usage is high. 11. For networking, explore VPCs subnets, route tables, gateways. This is where you learn how AWS isolates traffic securely. You will learn really well about networking here. Just create a vpc and play around 12. Once you’re comfortable, try Terraform to automate infra because that's 100X easier to manage state. Stage 13: Say Fuck AWS for stealing money and buy your own VPS, set up Docker, or use Coolify for one-click PaaS setups.

☁️ AWS in Plain English (so you never feel lost again): • EC2 → your computer in the cloud • S3 → a giant unlimited folder • RDS → a managed SQL database • Lambda → code that runs automatically • API Gateway → doorway to your APIs • CloudWatch → logs + monitoring • VPC → your private network • IAM → security guard of AWS • CloudFront → global CDN for speed • DynamoDB → NoSQL database • SNS → sends notifications • SQS → message queue that never sleeps Master these → 80% of AWS suddenly becomes simple.

@agile_phil @mikeasharp @g__j If it was for "house batteries" playing the system then why didn't you allow the EV to charge at low rate and the house at full rate? The only downside of this I see for you is anybody with V2L but that's such a minimum in the UK now.

@mikeasharp @g__j Ah ok. That’s the new bit really - if the charging goes over 6 hours during the off-peak period then we’ll bill the car at the bump rate whilst the rest of the house is still low rate. And that’s total of 6 hours charging not the sum of half-hour blocks.

@SJBATIE @RSymonsLTD @KiaUK @UKVolkswagen @Trustpilot At the moment I'm only going to accept a rejection or replacement. I know it's last resort but that's how far I've got with it. At least I was offered £250 in parts and servicing 🙄 Good luck to you getting sorted as well 🤞

@KiaUK you are absolutely useless at post-sale customer care. I don’t like to air my dirty laundry but I’m not getting any reply any other way. Will I here? I’ve been trying for a week now to delete a car off my account. A bug in the app software means I cannot do it myself. I’ve logged Kia connect online requests multiple times and have called Kia customer services multiple times. No one ever replies. No one actions. @KiaUKPR it’s not good. I review cars and I have to say Kia customer service is shameful, and not for the first time. My current situation is also a breach of #GDPR to have a car visible to me that I should not.

@SJBATIE @RSymonsLTD @KiaUK @UKVolkswagen @Trustpilot Things are currently moving forward with legal advice and the financial ombudsman - just extremely slowly. Once this is all resolved then I'll be reviewing as required. I honestly think my car could cause a death though, and VW don't seem bothered "they'll do their best to fix"

@RSymonsLTD @KiaUK Richard - my experiences with @UKVolkswagen have been just as poor. Sadly had to revert to the Motor Ombudsman to attempt some leverage when VW failed to recognise they broke the Consumer Rights Act.

So @UKVolkswagen are leaving me with an unsafe car, no courtesy car or mobility, no way to get my car fixed and no support other than telling me to complain to the Ombudsman. Honestly cannot believe how badly I've been treated in this case.

@OctopusEnergy I love you guys - but this is a bit silly. The servers slowed right down then they were gone. Maybe next year it at least needs to be a roulette spin or prize draw even for the little stuff?
