I have come to the conclusion that Twitter is the final proof that multiple universes exist and it is the gateway between those universes. It is the only explanation for a vast number of tweets and the only way those tweets make any sense Only question is which one am I in?🙃

LovethW | Democracy First | Burnham Out
Today, with a heavy heart, I have taken the painful decision to end my membership of @UKLabour and cancel my Direct Debit. I joined and supported Labour because I believed in fairness, democracy, loyalty, and collective purpose. But what I have witnessed since Labour's historic 2024 landslide victory has left me deeply saddened and angry. Keir Starmer inherited a broken and unelectable Labour Party. Through sheer determination, resilience, discipline, and relentless hard work, he rebuilt it from the ground up. He endured years of abuse, attacks, and criticism to transform Labour into a credible government-in-waiting. It was Keir Starmer who made Labour electable again. It was Keir Starmer who secured a landslide victory. It was Keir Starmer who won a democratic mandate for change from the British people. Yet instead of gratitude, loyalty, and support, he has faced constant undermining, briefing, plotting, and leadership speculation from people within his own party and trade union. In my view, @AndyBurnhamGM has become the symbol of that betrayal. He was not on the ballot paper in 2024. He is not an MP. He is not a member of the Government. Yet since Labour's victory, there has been a relentless effort to position himself as an alternative leader while others fuel leadership fantasies and internal division. I find it shameful that a democratically elected Prime Minister who delivered Labour's greatest victory in a generation has been subjected to such disloyalty from within his own party. The people who rebuilt nothing now seek to inherit what they did not build. What hurts most is seeing a Prime Minister who gave everything to return Labour to power being repaid with constant sniping, ambition, and political manoeuvring. It feels like a profound betrayal of the members, voters, and activists who worked so hard to secure that victory. Those who believe leadership can be won through plotting, briefing, and undermining a democratically elected Prime Minister should remember a simple truth, leadership built on division rarely succeeds. Political conspiracies may create headlines, but they seldom create lasting leaders. Time and again, plotters discover that ambition without loyalty ultimately collapses under its own weight. In my view, Andy Burnham's approach risks taking Labour in the wrong direction, dragging Labour into more endless internal conflict and factionalism. A movement consumed by personal ambition and leadership manoeuvring does not rise, it sinks. I can no longer support a party that, in my view, is turning its back on the very principles of democracy and loyalty that it claims to uphold. History will remember Keir Starmer as the leader who rescued Labour from defeat, rebuilt the Party, won a landslide election, and returned Labour to government with a mandate for change. Those who spent their time undermining him will be remembered for something very different and for sinking the Labour Party. Thank you, Keir Starmer, for your leadership, your dignity, your resilience, and your service. You have my deepest respect, my gratitude, and my unwavering admiration. #ThankYouKeir #TeamStarmer #KeirStarmer #LabourParty #LabourGovernment #MandateForChange

Keir Starmer marketed himself as a human rights lawyer who stood up for the downtrodden. As Britain’s prime minister, he showed nothing but contempt for human rights law, and he now leaves behind a disgraceful record of authoritarian policies. jacobin.com/2026/06/starme…

If Starmer had followed Carney and Meloni by taking on Trump, he could have mobilised British patriotism and isolated Farage and other MAGA bootlickers. Let's hope that Burnham will stand up to the thug
Ben Judah@b_judah

We’ve heard a lot about what Keir Starmer got wrong. We’ve heard less that he got unlucky. Donald Trump has played a big role in derailing his premiership.  1️⃣ Trump’s return fuelled a surge in support for right wing populism. Reform was at 19% on November 4th 2024. By his inauguration they were at 25% and neck and neck with Labour. In between: non-stop media coverage of Trump’s agenda. 2️⃣ Trump’s victory emboldened Musk who incessantly attacked Starmer over grooming gangs and promoted far right accounts, memes and politicians such as Rupert Lowe through his algorithm. Since then the X and Facebook algorithm have rewarded right wing political content since has fuelled the loathing of Starmer.  3️⃣ Trump’s win turned Net Zero from a common Western cause championed by the White House with major cross-party support in the UK into a wedge issue. This opened the way for right wing media and politics to crusade against Net Zero as a Labour eccentricity. 4️⃣ Trump’s interventions in UK politics to humiliate the Prime Minister over his issues from Net Zero to immigration hurt. Not to mention the painful images of Starmer’s interactions with him as he pursued British interests. These genuinely weakened his authority as the Greens hoovered up disgruntled progressives.  5️⃣ Trump made the world economy worse from his misconceived tariffs to his Hormuz-blocking war on Iran, knocking out the green shoots of better growth. This has together brought higher inflation, more expensive gilts and lower growth than had the Democrats won. ▶️ Starmer’s political mistake was not to pivot. This should have happened when JD Vance upbraided Zelensky in the White House and brought in a freeze of military aid on Ukraine. When Zelensky flew to London afterwards to seek the embrace of his closest ally — the UK — it was a top most watched moment of the year. ▶️ Starmer should have addressed the nation like a war leader and announced though we remained allied with the US we had heard loud and clear they expected us to be able to face Russia alone and that we must now prepare for such a war. ▶️ Starmer should have announced a war readiness package of higher taxes on the super rich and ending the triple lock to pay for rearmament. He should have said a trade war was becoming and he was immediately restarting talks with the EU to forge a “customs alliance” that would see us rejoin their customs union to prepare for a tariffs war. At that moment the media would have clapped and so would the PLP. ▶️ But the pivot never came. And that is a warning to Andy Burnham as he takes over Number 10. More on what he should do next to deal with Trump on @ArguablyMag.

UN Watch@UNWatch·
BREAKING: Ilana Gritzewsky, who was held hostage by Hamas, just took the floor at the United Nations to confront Reem Alsalem, the UN rapporteur on violence against women. Her dramatic testimony: Special Rapporteur, your report speaks about violence against women. Why is there no mention of Hamas? On October 7, terrorists stormed our Kibbutz — murdering, kidnapping, and burning. I was beaten and mutilated before blacking out. I woke up half naked with seven terrorists standing over me, not knowing what happened to me in those lost moments. I went through days of pain and horror in captivity, and even now the feeling of being powerless and violated still lingers. I came back with a broken hip, a broken jaw and a shattered soul. People see my face and think I’m free. But freedom is not a switch. Trauma doesn’t vanish once you are released. Now, every air-raid siren, and every rocket from Iran, throws me back into that hell. On October 7, and in captivity, Jewish women were raped, abused, and humiliated. And you, Special Rapporteur, you chose silence and denial. Ms. Alsalem, you said there was no evidence of sexual violence on October 7. I am standing here today — not as a report, not as a statistic. I am a woman who survived. I am the living proof of sexual violence by Hamas. When I and other Israeli women begged not to be raped, why were you silent? Please look at me. Do you believe us now? Will you apologize?

@AdnanHussainMP Why not. The charge of genocide is complete garbage, as are the charges of apartheid, ethnic cleansing and colonialism There is apartheid in the PA controlled areas if the West Bank and the Hamas areas of Gaza where Jews are excluded

We cannot allow the charge of genocide in Gaza to be obscured by accusations of antisemitism. Antisemitism is hatred of Jewish people; criticism of Israel is criticism of a state with military and political apparatus capable of committing genocide. The two must not be conflated.

@KimJohnsonMP @MiddleEastEye “Moral clarity”? Starmer didn’t lack clarity. He clearly knew what he was doing in respect of Palestine. He just lacked morals. Burnham hasn’t said too much on the genocide so far. Either way genocide shouldn’t be used as political leverage.

The great Israel Parliamentary debate stitch up I've just totaled up the amount of time each side had to speak during the parliamentary debate yesterday on Israeli influence over UK politics. The pro-Israel side had 1 hour and 9 minutes to put forward their pro-Israel views. The anti-Israel side had 15 minutes only to put forward their anti-Israel views. So in effect, the pro-Israel side had 82% of the speaking time during the debate, and the anti-Israel side had 18% speaking time. This wasn't a debate, it was a forum for Israeli hasbara and propaganda. And it proves exactly why 117,000 people signed a petition questioning Israel's influence over UK politicians.

I asked Liam Cunningham for evidence supporting his claim that Israel is committing genocide under the legal definition of the term. Not insults. Not slogans. Not appeals to authority. Evidence. His response was "fuck off" followed by a block. Those with arguments use them. Those without often use insults and then run from the discussion.

The BBC's David Gritten and Stephanie Hegarty just wrote a piece about Israel committing "genocide". While the @BBCNews article opens with a claim it is based on a "A UN commission of inquiry" it is actually nothing more than another kangaroo court set up by the rancid "United Nations Human Rights Council". Here's the thing. There is not a serious journalist, academic or foreign policy expert alive who is unaware of the UNHRC's reputation. This is an organisation that has already been abolished once and replaced, only for many of the same problems to re-emerge. Its record of obsession with demonising on Israel, combined with its repeated election of authoritarian regimes to its 47-member membership, has destroyed its credibility as an impartial judge of anything. Its history of anti-Israel bias is beyond dispute. It is a matter of public record. So how is it possible that two BBC journalists write an article suggesting Israel is committing genocide without mentioning any of this. It is inexcusable. It is substandard. It is activist journalism masquerading as reporting. A GCSE student who submitted work of this quality would be told they had failed to address the reliability of their source material. I do not believe this type of shoddy, amateur, fourth-rate antireporting should ever pass without comment - let alone something produced by the British State Broadcaster. So I am publicly calling out both David Gritten and Stephanie Hegarty for trying to sanitise and whitewash a rancid despot ridden activist body and pretend it actually has some impartial moral standing. We all deserve better. These two are either galactically stupid - or the worst type of journalists. Either way - your license fee money should not be paying their salaries.

Four in five voters who deserted Labour went to centre or centre-left parties. They overwhelmingly oppose Labour’s stance on Gaza and want the government to take action against Israel. Any account of Starmer’s downfall that ignores this should not be taken seriously.
