I’m engaged, and my fiancé recently found out I own a small apartment that my parents helped me buy years ago. It’s in my name, fully paid off. I’ve always seen it as my safety net. Now he’s asking me to sell it after we get married so we can “invest together” and put everything into a house under both our names. He says keeping it means I’m planning for a future without him. But I don’t see it that way. I see it as something I built before him, something that protects me no matter what happens. And now I feel guilty for wanting to keep it.

I lived in Hungary for several years under the Orbán dictatorship. The funny thing was, people could and did say whatever came into their heads, protests were held in front of the parliament, there was a gay cruise bar down the road and Orbán held elections. And yet, the country was a dictatorship. Whereas in the UK, people tend to be distinctly guarded and if they do say the wrong thing very publicly, they get locked up. And yet, it's a free country. Once you understand that words can mean whatever we want them to mean, it begins to make sense.

This guy took a beautiful girl out on a first date to a nice restaurant and she ordered a $220 surf and turf entree. He was shocked at first, but rolled with it since he had just made some good money at work. When the food came, she took a few bites and was done. I started doing cocaine about 7 or 8 months ago. It started off at festivals with my friends or nightclubs, but I’m now doing it daily for the past 3 weeks or so. I knew from the second I used cocaine that it was my drug of choice. I smoke weed daily, I’ve used MDMA, ketamine, 4MMC and a few others, but none ever clicked with me the same way cocaine did. I work full time and have a good relationship with my family and friends, and I don’t know where this addiction has come from. When I’m not high I don’t crave it, but the second I do a little line or bump, I can’t stop. I’m doing about a gram daily, sometimes more, sometimes less. It’s not really affecting my life too much—I still go to work, I still see my friends and my family, and no one knows about my addiction. My biggest problem is nighttime, where I can’t put down the bag. I work a manual labour job with an early start, so it’s not at all sustainable to be taking cocaine late at night. It’s currently 3am as I’m writing this, and I’m up for work in about 2 hours. I feel like I’m losing control of my life, but at the same time I feel happy throughout the day when I’m not using—but also empty. I don’t even know how to explain it. It’s like one minute I’m inside my head thinking about how much I hate this drug, what it’s doing to me, and how much I want to stop. Then the next minute I’m happy, joking around, full of energy. Then I switch up again and start thinking about railing a fat line when I get home. I don’t know what to do, how to break this addiction, or how to feel about it. I don’t know how to stop justifying it and telling myself every night that it’s my last time, and then going straight back to it the next day. I’m using about a quarter ounce a week, and if I go out to party on the weekend, I’ll easily go through a 3.5 throughout the night. I don’t know what to do. It’s fucking me up, and I’m just stuck in this vicious cycle with no way out.
