@CathySimms4 @BoSnerdley It is the strategy. Distill the voter rolls to maintain power. Those with the means to leave will. Those who do not have the means will become even more reliant upon government programs, thus solidifying the voting base for those providing the services.
English

@BoSnerdley The tyrannical current leadership want people to leave. The question is - why.
English

"A new UC Berkeley study found that people of limited income who moved out of California dramatically improved their financial conditions."
Life after California: People find dramatically lower costs, buy homes, new research shows latimes.com/california/sto…
English

@Coug_206 @DaneMiller_SWS Getting swept by the Cougs in 2024 will do that
English

@SkiBryan @TheoLawson_SR I’ve been to Chapel Hill and Tucson; UNC is not the upgrade you think it is in the current world of hoops.
The ghosts of coaches and players past in haunt you.
English

@TheoLawson_SR Tommy is a blue collar guy. Grew up in Kelso, Washington. His dad worked at the paper mill for years (Longview Fibre Co.) So happy for the Lloyd family and for West Coast hoops fans.

College sports is doing everything it can to mimic pro sports… without actually making the concessions pro leagues have to make (employment contracts, unions, collective bargaining) to be functional. It’s kind of insane
Sports Business Journal@SBJ
As reported last week, the Big Ten is discussing a carve-out to the $20.5M revenue share cap that would allow schools to exceed it to retain players, per sources. The concept mirrors NBA-style Bird rights, though details and approval process remain unclear. Read more: ow.ly/W2EQ50YyAXl

@BornB1G @DavidOates85 @ChaseDisPaper1 @CFBKings @stromio1 Oregon’s money wasn’t enough to pull Mark Few from Gonzaga. The Ducks tried to hire Few multiple times.
Dana was a consolation prize
English

Oregon and Gonzaga are very similar programs in the respective worlds of College Football and College Basketball.
Both programs have been relevant on the national stage for a significant period of time, but neither has won a national title and they always come up short of the big goal.
Gonzaga lost in the NCAA tournament last night, suffering their second consecutive exit in the Round of 32.
Oregon got annihilated by Indiana in the College Football Playoff semifinals last season, and in 2024 they were a one-and-done with a blowout loss to Ohio State.
Will either program get over the hump and win their sport’s national title in the near future?

@kingcoug56 @WazzuBound I was about to say that she is the big decision maker in athletics now.
English

@WazzuBound The landscape is changing. Cantwell is in charge and she’s hiring her deputies to run the department. The role of an athletic director is much different than it was 4 years ago.

@chadders67 @CF_Budge Cedric Coward came to WSU after the collapse. He went #11 in the 2025 NBA draft
English

@CF_Budge Seems plausible that the top 2 schools had success at drawing top talent and developing them when part of the PAC12 - will be interesting to see how this list changes over the next 5 years
English

@HoagML @BrennaGreene_ WSU was stacked during Dylan’s tenure at WSU. He was a great defensive sub. His shooting was not awesome his freshman year. He had a back injury his sophomore season that kept him off the floor. He made the most of his opportunities.

@paulzilm @sup3r_mario11 @GUnit_81 Whitworth Men’s hoops made it to the NAIA championship game in the 1996 season. I’m pretty sure the Pirates were outdrawing GU home games in attendance that year.
English

@nellfire @sup3r_mario11 @GUnit_81 That's spot on & hilarious about needing the Marriott food change. I remember going to the old Kennel for games & being able to go behind the bleachers while the actual GU game was going on & shooting hoops. If you didn't make too much noise, security would let you keep playing.
English

Neither did Kansas when they lost to VCU, should call them out for that too. Or Duke losing to an 11 seed in NC State two seasons ago. Michigan State lost to a 15 seed in Middle Tennessee not too long ago. If you’re going to crap on Gonzaga not too long ago. If you are going to do this to every team that has been upset in the NCAA Tournament, you literally have to call out essentially every power conference team in history.
Mario Crespin@sup3r_mario11
@GUnit_81 HA! Which is my damn point. Couldn’t beat a play in team. Actually was dominated.
English

@paulzilm @sup3r_mario11 @GUnit_81 I was at Whitworth during the mid-90’s. GU was just another Spokane area college we would go eat at for a change when we got bored off our own dining hall. Marriott provided food service at both.
English

@sup3r_mario11 @GUnit_81 I grew up in Spokane and have had GU season tix since 2004, even though I moved away in 2015. Of course we want national championships. But anyone with an ounce of credibility also remembers what the program was like before 1999, outside of scandal, Few stays as long as he wants.
English

@jim_epperly @Pac12Central Zags had to reinvent themselves halfway through the season after Huff went out.
English

@Pac12Central Well this year they missing huff ? Dude- weren’t going deep without his scoring !
English

@Pac12Central Probably don’t have an all American candidate dislocate his knee in January would be a start
English

@YaeMontana @Newmdawg @FanDuel Zags lost their best scorer for the year a couple months ago. They had to reinvent themselves mid season.
Everyone loses in the NCAA tourney, save one
English

@YaeMontana @FanDuel I'm not convinced that moving to the PAC12 next year is going to result in more appreciation than the WCC did. PAC12 members will be: Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Oregon State, San Diego State, Texas State, Utah State, and Washington State.
