✦ What do you enjoy most about the Tezos ecosystem, and what do you feel is still missing in Web3 more broadly? @Featurefrank - What I enjoy most about Tezos is the artistic density. There is a very special mix of experimentation, accessibility, generosity and seriousness. It feels closer to an artist-led ecosystem than any other blockchain, also because of the support Tezos has given to curators, museums and cultural initiatives. Additionally, Tezos has always had this slightly punk, DIY, community-driven energy. That matters. It gives artists room to test ideas without needing to perform like a brand all the time. What I personally miss is more currency stability. The seemingly ongoing decline of XTZ against fiat currencies — and even against Ethereum — is not helpful. For artists and collectors, this creates a psychological and financial burden. A vibrant art ecosystem needs trust not only in the culture, but also in the underlying infrastructure. I hope this will change in the future. More broadly, Web3 still lacks a better cultural memory. We are very good at hype, but not always good at preserving context. Many important works, artists and moments disappear too quickly in the feed. I would love to see more serious archiving, better curatorial writing, better provenance tools, and more bridges to museums, collections and art historians. Web3 has created an incredible new art infrastructure. Now it needs deeper art-historical self-awareness. But I know this takes time and does not happen overnight. ✦ When did you start collecting digital art? Is there any work? collection, or an artist that holds particular meaning for you? @Featurefrank - I started collecting digital art seriously in early 2021, mainly through Nifty Gateway at first. The beginning was intense — full of discovery, FOMO, confusion, excitement, and sometimes total madness. In a way, that energy was part of the magic. Some of the works by Pak that I acquired are strongly connected to that period. The excitement around those drops is something I will probably never forget. At the same time, I have a somewhat ambivalent relationship with Pak. I deeply admire the work, and I was even in contact with him. We were planning a solo show at NEONREAL Gallery, but then he suddenly ghosted me. So yes — I still respect the artistic practice a lot, but there is also a personal disappointment attached to it. Beyond that, the works that hold special meaning for me are, of course, the pieces we dropped ourselves with artists through Flux Collective. Those projects were not just acquisitions — they were collaborations, conversations, and shared moments. I also have a strong appreciation for artists like @kimasendorf, whose work I consider historically important and personally very inspiring — for example, Monogrid on Tezos. And last year at Art Basel Miami, I was lucky enough to get one of @beeple’s Regular Animals NFTs, which felt like becoming part of a very specific moment in digital art history. For me, collecting is not just about owning an image. It is about participating in a cultural moment while it is still being written. Window Still Life 080, by @jjjjjjjjjjohn

the funniest part about contemporary onchain art history is going to be people realizing how many important artists were quietly building on @tezos the entire time
