@MichaelDeckker @ScooterMcNeice We probably need them both in order to show some ability to win the stoppages and contested ball I'm still hoping Parish builds up to a better running capacity with a few games, but more likely he just needs support

@ScooterMcNeice I’d be happy with Tsatas in for Parish .You simply can’t give this midfield group another chance without making a change -

I see some calling for Parish to be omitted. Essendon is -29 in clearances after 2 games and Parish has 14 (avg 7). All other Essendon mids have under 10. You either play Tsatas again and see what you have in 2026 or Parish has to remain in the side.

🚨 AUSSIES, WE’RE GETTING ABSOLUTELY ROOTED ON POWER PRICES! ⚡ Latest 2026 numbers (GlobalPrices Q4 2025 / World Population Review): - 🇦🇺 Australia: 0.256 USD per kWh - 🇨🇳 China: 0.077 USD → we pay 3.3× more - 🇷🇺 Russia: 0.07 USD → we pay 3.7× more - 🇺🇸 USA: 0.18 USD → we pay 1.4× more Mate, they’ve got coal, gas, hydro, nukes… we’ve got solar, wind, and the biggest network charges on the planet. Victoria’s handing out 3 free midday hours from Oct 2026 like it’s a win… but the rest of the day we’re still paying through the nose while the rest of the world laughs. Time to ask: why the fuck are we paying First-World prices for Third-World reliability?

🧵1/6 Essendon is struggling with the footy and without it, but don’t ignore winning it to begin with This is hurting (a lot) in losing field position from stoppages, which is putting an even bigger premium on the method with the footy #thebombersblog #godons

@FlightPlanPod @PHX_ESS_RM @adam_pianto it's a bit odd to blame one kid who seems to dominate at VFL level and has barely been given a chance in the seniors and who by all accounts is one of the hardest workers at the club

It's a harsh reality, but we have to acknowledge: We've constantly screwed up our top 5 picks, culminating in Elijah Tsatas. Look at who went at 5 in recent drafts, it makes for eye-opening reading: 2024 - Levi Ashcroft 2023 - Nick Watson 2021 - Mac Andrew 2018 - Connor Rozee
The Flight Plan@FlightPlanPod

Essendon's list is in a precarious position after failing to nail two first round draft picks in consecutive years (Hobbs & Tsatas), leaving a void in the playing group. When things aren't going well at the club, it becomes a vicious, seemingly never-ending cycle that's hard to envisage getting out of. However, that self-destructive streak can be broken. Brisbane in 2013 faced one of the worst offseasons in club history, with the 'go-home five' requesting trades after a poor season for the Lions, culminating in Michael Voss being sacked. The go-home five were: *2010: Jared Polac at 5, Patrick Karnezis at 25 *2011: Billy Longer at 5, Sam Docherty at 12, Elliot Yeo at 30 Ostensibly it was rock bottom for Brisbane, and after an ill-fated appointment of Justin Leppitsch from 2014 to 2016, a dramatic paradigm shift had to happen. In 2017 the club appointed Chris Fagan, bringing stability and experience to a coaches box in desperate need of both. In that time frame the Lions drafted well, made astute trades and became a destination club for free agents. Brisbane laid out the blueprint for turning a floundering club into a powerhouse - something Essendon should look at very closely ❤️🖤

@FlightPlanPod This is a guy who was in the eyes of most a top 5 pick, and who looked good in his first pre-season before injury. Then in his second year they got him to remodel his kicking action and he lost all confidence in kicking a football That's a development failure

To reiterate: don't blame Tsatas, he has zero say in which team drafts him. But it's another glaring example of internal communications breakdown. Recruiting and developing teams need to work side by side to devise the best strategy and start doing their job correctly.

@FlightPlanPod Let's be realistic, he looked the goods when he played, only he wasn't played often, and when selected was used as a sub or in other roles It's OK to be a devoted fan of the club, but our coach didn't rate him, while others did. It was clearly an error. Mistakes happen.

Out of all the disingenuous tripe that comes out of these shows, this could be the worst case of confirmation bias you'll ever see. Does D'Ambrosio's averages of 12 touches across two seasons & a total of 16 games jump off the page as a must sign prospect? No mention of the pick they traded turned into Archie Roberts, a serious W in hindsight. Mass slotted into a great spot at Hawthorn, but it's ridiculous to imply he would have had the same spike in production as a Don. Not to mention, he's been on a slight side following his stellar debut season, with his 21.1 disposals per game dropping to 18.1 in 2025 & 15.3 this campaign. The tackle numbers have done the same. Present the full story & don't treat fans like idiots

@FlightPlanPod Successful clubs know that development is far more important than draft picks. Every player drafted has talent, especially the high-end picks where most clubs all agree anyway. The difference is what those players become when they get to the club

An interview with an Irishman in 1962. Absolutely brilliant. "Irish people have gone all over the world, it'd be bad if they were discriminated against in the countries they went to, why should we discriminate anyone coming in here then?"

@PatrickRyen @FootyLock6 Year on year imporvement of individual players just hasn't happened. We can all debate the state of our list, but if the game plan is this dysfunctional and players aren't improving depsite doubling the coaching staff, then there are other issues at play

Something I don’t agree with: The team performing poorly means everything off field is wrong. I think we’ve improved our list management, S&C (better late than never), executives, some off field standards. I just think we’ve got a couple of things to improve, and it’s on field

@FlightPlanPod TBF Ben Rutten had a similar injury year in 2022 and only half as many staff and assistant coaches to help him; and he was shown no leeway. He also had something Brad doesn't have, a prior track record of establishing an elite defence

Brad Scott has been an asset to Essendon off the field. He's made a strong attempt to build culture, lift standards and get our great club back to its best. However, whilst we've made strides in the right direction off the park, Brad was hired to coach, and that's been disastrous since mid 2025. Yes, the mitigating factor of an unprecedented injury crisis does garner leeway, but the lack of willingness for 'leaders' (either via name or stature) to knuckle down, set the tone, elevate the player standards from the group and negotiate the maelstrom as an united front has been downright diabolical. Based on the first two games, there seems to be a communication breakdown between the coaches and players. A factor that precedes almost every AFL coach dismissal. Some very frank discussions are happening behind closed doors. If the board cannot see Brad Scott as the man who's best equipped to overcome the maelstrom, we need to act swiftly and begin the search for a motivated coach that really gets it. No more half measures

@TheBackPocketAU What would you have done when a senior assistant coach departs on the eve of the season? This occured when all other clubs (as per the collctive bargaining agreement established by the coaches association) had locked in their assistant coaches for the 2026 season?

On the weekend Essendon only had 3 players from 22-25 on the field. Their injury list includes Redman, Ridley and Martin - arguably three of their best five or ten players - as well as Clarke, Bryan, Sharp and Setterfield.
Jack Turner@Jack_S_Turner

A year ago I wrote about Brad Scott & Essendon, I still believe much of it to be true. Biggest problem they now face is their inability to let go of 2000 & 2012, and the fact they keep appointing the Old Guard to positions of power. Read about it here: thebackpocketau.substack.com/p/what-is-a-pa…

If you piece together what Cal had said (wish eddie would've shutup & let him finish) + what Langers said today: If i have it right the players have been coached to defend one way but onfield some players did differently. Causing both systems to fail and the ensuing confusion.

"A key discussion point was confusion and lack of clarity on the way these players are defending and being coached to defend." @CalTwomey has more details on Essendon's 'players only' meeting after their horror loss to Port Adelaide. #9FootyClassified | Watch on 9 & 9Now 🖥️

@Miss_Ruby11 @kebab_chris @NoticerNews The decision was made 1st March 2022 and was recommended by the then Minister Angus Taylor. It's technically true that the sale wasn't finalised until after the election, so it "could" have been stopped. But most governments won't ever undo a prior commitment to another country
