Creators get demonetized, and after around 50 days, they can lose the payout for the work they’ve already done—all while being told to “improve” their channel without any clear explanation. In my case, it’s already been over 42 days since my channel was demonetized, and I still haven’t been given a proper reason for what exactly is wrong. @YouTube has no right to take away hard-earned money like this without providing a real explanation. Just saying “inauthentic content” without pointing out specific videos or giving clear details doesn’t help creators fix anything—it just leaves us stuck. We’re expected to fix our content, but how is that possible when: – No specific videos are identified – No clear violation is explained – Only a vague, repeated label is used And what makes this even worse is that ads can still run on the same videos. So the content is considered “inauthentic” for creators to earn from, but still acceptable to generate revenue? That’s where it starts to feel unfair. Creators spend time, effort, and consistency building their channels, and situations like this make it feel like that effort is being ignored. We’re not asking to break rules—we’re asking for transparency, proper communication, and fair treatment. If this is happening to more creators, it needs to be talked about. We lost our 69k subscriber channel "21st Century Mouse" immediately after 90 days of demonetization. We were in the process of trimming and editing our channel to reapply for YPP after the 90 days ended when we got an automated email saying our channel had just been deleted. We never got to make any proper appeal and it was as though our channel had been "booby-trapped"; one alteration and it's gone! We're now pushing for the idea of a Content Creator Union (international) to protect hard-working creators from overreach and malpractice by platforms. There are some examples here that exist IRL.

We said this yesterday but we'll say it again now: we need a Content Creators Union with international branches, one that can protect hard working creators from overreach and malpractice by these platforms. Better pay, health benefits or anything that unions usually help with. The organizations we've listed below actually exist so there is a precedent.

A message to @YouTubeCreators @TeamYouTube @nealmohan @reneritchie and every YouTuber that suffers from "Inauthentic content". I'm a French comedian and YouTuber with over 12 years on the platform. I run 2 YouTube channels (714K and 350K subs) with more than 400 million views on long-form videos. I create comedy podcasts and gaming content, and I do everything myself: filming, editing, and appearing on camera. Overnight, both channels were demonetized. I made 2 appeal videos — zero views. Every appeal was rejected with the exact same copy-paste automated message. No human support from YouTube. After 12 years and building two big communities, this treatment is unacceptable. This broken system is destroying the lives (literally!) and careers of thousands of genuine, original creators. Please comment, share, and tag YouTube. This needs to stop. Where do you stand on the subject of a Content Creator Union to protect creators from overreach on platforms like YouTube, where millions of us have been demonetized and deleted in the past 6 months alone? With this wave of demonetization, not only did YouTube seize $3,000 in revenue, it also shattered a project I was building with genuine passion, excitement, and hope. I set out simply to create meaningful content and contribute something valuable to the platform. In return, however, all we’ve faced are obstacles and setbacks. @TeamYouTube I understand your team is overwhelmed with requests and is simply trying to do its best to keep the platform safe. I just want to follow up by emphasizing the need for more human review and greater attention to these processes. Right now, hundreds of creators are being affected as collateral damage. Besides, I’ve just received another automated, generic email denying my monetization back, repeating the same explanation as always. I’m asking, please, for my case to be reviewed by a human. My channel is fully aligned with the TOS. Please @TeamYouTube help me with this human revision.

YouTube is rapidly becoming the most unpopular platform for creators anywhere on Earth. It monetizes us, guides us via the YouTube studio to make more "product" for them, then after they've made thousands of bucks by taking 45% of your income, they set bots on your channel to first demonetize then delete you when you try to "fix" a fake and vague accusation of "policy violation". There are policy violations such as "encourages consumerism", "encourages wastefulness", "stories that are confusing and don't have a beginning, middle & end", and that's just for channels aimed at kids. I lost a 69k channel this month and the whole system is wrong. All those "talking heads" podcasts using one formula, one template, the dominant format on YouTube, isn't classed as "slop", but any creators using the latest AI filmmaking tech are banished forever. YouTube is now a few privileged podcasters, some of the biggest are simply reading out tweets, and an army of misinformation channels, shills and CEOs worth hundreds of millions for doing a very, very bad job make up the rest. Every other platform is now growing with the 20million creators you deleted in the last 12 months alone, so keep your AI cat videos & "yoga" videos. As for YouTube accounting; has anyone ever heard of "Leprechaun Economics"? There must be some very rich creators running around if 55% of $60billion + in 2025 went to them.

Will it be available on X or are you making it a pay-to-download-only item (for 4K copies as an example) with trailers and sneak previews; it's going to be the best business model to make revenue for your hard work eventually, especially once people realise Hollywood isn't the only source of movies and TV. The issue then will be this: union rules. Distribution of films & TV is extremely regulated and expensive to get through. George Lucas was fined $250k just for not putting Irvin Kershner's name at the start of The Empire Strikes Back, and he dropped out of the Directors' Union for many years after that.

A human review from @TeamYouTube is needed here, please can you put this person's account on your "review list"? Have you still got your videos saved anywhere so that you can put them on X. Long-form videos are okay here as long as you have a verified paid account (it's not that expensive but we know every bit of cash is needed these days). People can still watch your videos on a Smart TV, tablet, laptop etc even if they don't have a subscription. There's also Rumble which monetizes almost immediately (unless they changed it). Vimeo, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram all are available to post on. It takes a while but you'll feel better than you do right now waiting for them to help.
