Hot take: Decks should be read ahead of time in fundraising processes. The synchronous time should be reserved for deeper questions and getting to know the team on a personal level. So decks should tell a complete story; not one that requires voice over.

Does wispr flow use a top model during your first week and downgrade to GPT3 after? Feels like there is a noticeable degradation

one of our most fun levers to drive claude code adoption internally has been a leaderboard for token burn. It leads to two really effective behaviors 1. Competition: Heard on the daily now "I can't let so and so beat me today" 2. Shame: Anyone low on tokens for the day is getting screenshotted in slack by their haters

Claude code et al is maybe deleting the product team? Giving rise to the builder? We're in the middle of the shift now and its remarkable how debatable the outcome is. It isn't clear which "ATMs" will die and how quickly.

ATMs did exactly what tellers did at 27 cents a transaction vs $1.07. teller employment went up. then the iPhone came along, had nothing to do with banking, and teller jobs dropped from 332k to 164k in twelve years. About once a week, Claude & I try to ship a PR beyond my understanding of our code base. The PR is almost always rejected or causes another issue. AI has given us coding superpowers, but we have a ways to go before we can blind significant changes to prod. Great writing on why:

@luishXYZ @signulll I work with companies and funds not on Ramp. Anecdotally seeing them go 70/30 in favor of anthropic for firm wide rollouts. I always ask how they chose out of curiosity “We just heard the model is better”

@signulll To be fair: Ramp is disproportionately used by tech startups and scaleups. So their invoice data might be skewed towards early adopters and not paint the full picture.

@danhightower The more I use it, the more I wonder why it’s not just a folder of transcripts. The chat is soso. MCP can’t see team folders. No API (have to pay zap tax). Feels like the app is in my way at every turn. Quickly reaching #1 on the “I’ll just vibe code it” list unfortunately

So while I’m not the biggest AGI optimist out there, we’ve got OpenAI/Anthropic burning billions, and Meta with a proven stomach for the long game (reality labs losses ~40B since ‘21)…I think consumers will win here eventually. Investor returns maybe another issue

Uber, Lyft, WeWork, Robinhood, Spotify et al were all losing 1-2B/yr in their heyday and in general I think consumers won bc of it- we got better services cheaper. Some of that corrected over time though (ex uber fees).
