A decade ago I was betting MLB overnights for 2k a pop off a Monte Carlo sim built on free Steamer projections and finishing seasons up 50+ units. That same model today would get absolutely cooked. The market evolution in baseball betting has been insane. Where is the edge now?

Every year, those 2–3 weeks in mid-March my CLV/XROI looks basically normal (around 7–8%, same as the rest of the season), yet for 4 straight years the gap between XROI and real ROI is by far the worst in March. Do you think March is just the least efficient stretch of the season, or could it just be variance?

Tim Duncan came right into the NBA and won a championship the first year. I don’t think he made a final four. Shaq averaged like 25 points and 15 rebounds in college with a dead 3 when center is dominant and he couldn’t even get to a final four. When he came into the NBA, he was absolutely dominant out of the gate. Yeah, all these superstars in the NBA today are certainly light years better than the college players. I just don’t think it’s gonna be that easy as to where they just walk on the court with 10 scrubs and walk over 6 top 10 teams in a row

And probably facing absurd double/triple teams? Guys who can handle more of an adv than a Jokic type

I don't think any current player in the NBA could lead one of these shit teams to a title. Maybe here and there but for the most part no. Dwayne Wade was on a stacked Marquette team and they could not win it all. Going back to the 90s when guys stayed longer and were NBA mature superstars when they got to the league even those guys did not win it all Tim Duncan NO Iverson NO Shaq NO David Robinson NO Not even sure any of these teams made final 4s let alone win a title I get that certain players now are way better than these guys but not sure they could just go out and win a handful of games with 10 scrubs on their side

This is actually a much more complex story, the writer needed material so he proceeded to lose very slowly and very little at first as he needed to create a dramatic ending he decided to leerrrroooooyyyyy Jenkins (YouTube legendary meme). He also through shear luck figured out the optimal strategy on what to do when his free roll was running out as he was completing his story. He needed the big dramatic ending.

For those that need the tldr. - bet for a few months for a story with 10k. -didn’t lose enough -had to make story better so YOLOed to make sure I went broke for the story.
