@GovKathyHochul showed up to Sunset Park and not only used MLK legacy but also Sunset park community as pawns to push her conservative judge. And the worst part was she brought police with her and kicked out a respected, afro-latina leader who belongs to the church. #NoLaSalle

@briebriejoy in critiquing PTA obsessed folks, seems like the issue as well is that they are ignoring the brilliance of sinners. and some are but also a lot of people loved both. Comparing films just because they are in competition for some golden statue, is ultimately unfair for both films.

Here's a Yale professor breaking it down. I hope she smart enough to keep up with the average stubbly, thick-framed 37 year old Brooklynite who claims the exclusive right to *understand* PTA. youtube.com/watch?v=buPYKn…

Pynchon bros have gotta stop saying that anyone who disagrees with them is too stupid to get it. Their inability to make an argument rooted in the actual diegesis of the film makes this accusation feel like a confession. And the racial optics aren't great.
a random pynchon character@zaaaarbi

Discourse surrounding Perfidia proves that 90 percent of the audience cannot grasp a character written to have any complexity and depth. They need cardboard revolutionaries, not this. It’s a sign of the times when people don’t read or think but only consume and scroll.

@briebriejoy I get it PTA glazing is annoying but that become the reason to hate the film and not the film itself. It’s funny how this video that’s 50 minutes long dissecting all the meaning in the film demonstrates it’s dealing with ideas that 99% of hollywood films don’t.

@SandyforCouncil @GreenwoodRIP One issue with this is that green burials don’t need to have any new tech, you just need health soil and environments and let the process happen. Often times these speeding up decomposition tech isn’t really necessary. There has been a lot of these gimmicks over the years

@SandyforCouncil @GreenwoodRIP From spending years with green burials advocates, there’s a lot of misconception that there’s legal issues to doing it. Most states that really not the case, it’s more about cemeteries and funeral directors not doing it because they are unfamiliar or not aware of it.

@NYCSanitation @NYCMayor Got to get these plows over to 4th avenue bike lane in sunset park, the lane is totally unplowed for stretches in the 30’s and 40’s. so bad that pedestrians can’t cross street without walking into traffic. Cop cars obviously are in way too parked in lane.

They are small. They are mighty. Our bike lane plows were clearing the way, helping ensure that NYers who rely on bike lanes to get to work, or do their work, had a path.

@BadTakeEnjoyer @katewillett Well you live up to your name! Just serving up more bad takes. Section 8 and RAD is privatization. Section 8 pays more because private landlords get more money and also can charge more rent to residents. eviction rates are higher in section 8, less tenant rights than sec 9

This woman architected Obama’s plan for privatization of public housing, and then did the same thing in NYC city government. She is a mega concession to the real estate lobby in the same way Tisch is a concession to billionaires and Israel supporters.

You probably don't know what SEQRA is - but you should know that it's slowing down the housing that we need. Deputy Mayor Leila Bozorg is here to explain why reforming it is key to cutting red tape and building more housing.

Finally, someone smart says the obvious ... NYC builds boatloads and boatloads and boatloads of housing. More than most American cities combined. Why doesn't that make housing cheaper? For the very reason that NYC builds the housing: it is built to meet new demand by the new top 20 percent. That's not bad or good, it's just reality. nypost.com/2025/12/14/opi…

@skip_strike @nicolegelinas Hilarious that you think this proves your point, it entirely demonstrates the opposite. Orlando is not a major city like NYC. All these mid size cities on top are getting ridiculously expensive. And then chicago and detroit at the bottom are still incredibly affordable cities

@TweetBenMax @lxeagle17 Honestly you aren’t paying attention. Voters in district look at local issues and how the office is run often before they look at federal voting records. He moved his office because he was being protested so much and now is very inaccessible in the IC mall with security.

@TweetBenMax @lxeagle17 Wow. As a local reporter, pretty awful to not get local issues that he’s totally exposed himself to criticism. Most electeds in area are against the BMT luxury housing less port proposal from EDC but Goldman and gounardes support.

@admcrlsn Also these maps aren’t accurate about voting sites. theres only two early voting sites in sunset park. this maps shows many voting sites open only on election day. So not great data.

Last day of early voting in NYC, where Cuomo is hoping for a last-minute burst of turnout, especially in Black (east Brooklyn, SE Queens) after church & Latino neighborhoods (esp. Bronx) today. Let’s check in on live waiting times at early voting precincts as of 2:30pm ET (🧵):

@admcrlsn This is not correct, the polling site that’s red is OLPH church which is in sunset park. not boro park. OLPH has large masses in the morning so folks probably went after to vote. hence the 230 time check. it’s not cuomo country at all.

@ettingermentum It’s not correct to call Kensington and sunset park areas of white ethnic enclaves. Bangladeshi turnout in kensington was big for bernie. Sunset at the time was only 20% white. Bay ridge even as well esp since the arab vote carried bernie there. So analysis is oversimplifying

This also makes clear how much the Garcia/Adams difference was a case of the old Hillary coalition fracturing between rich whites and working class minorities. This has allowed the left to become competitive as the rich whites sometimes stand to break in their favor.

The 2016 primary in NYC was so cool. Bernie got nuked across the board and only won the most right-wing ethnic white areas and the budding hipster zones.

@stylianos_k It’s worth mentioning that they don’t pay off these renovations, they pass it on to us tenants as a IAI, before the 2019 laws, LL made money off the renovations. Now the watered down IAI laws let then recoup plenty of money from us. So even less to complain about.

@MayaForCouncil all of these issues are state level issues that city council doesn’t actually control. This is really telling you don’t know that or maybe you do and you are just cynically saying this. I don’t trust a candidates who’s primarily backed by real estate lobby, REBNY.

@fuelgrannie Says you. Rents are in freefall, and renters like myself are basically getting a raise. I'd love it if social housing could accelerate the decommodification of housing but it's ridiculous to claim that zoning reform isn't moving things in the right direction.

@SASardonic @fuelgrannie You don’t even read the article that you are basing your argument on. prices surged by 20% the year before but wow they went down by 8% since i’ll means housing is way expensive.

@leahfrombklyn Hold up?! that’s not a regular “mall” that’s a old historic building in providence that’s super bougie. it’s not a 1980’s mall/box store converted to housing. place in providence is beautiful and not soulless. kind of misleading.

I like the part where the tenant talks about being able to just go to the mall to get what she needs on a rainy day. Here’s the whole video by CNBC. youtu.be/J1GIF6VNipE?si…

This is so cool. Shopping malls are transforming a portion of their space into apartments. A win win b/c did you know that 68% of Americans live within an hour of a mall that’s abandoned or has low consumer traffic? In mall apts, live-in tenants are a built-in customer base
